| The study of the war of resistance against Japanese aggression is the focus of the study of the history of overseas Chinese.As an important settlement of overseas Chinese in Nanyang,Singapore has made outstanding contributions to the anti-japanese struggle of the motherland and its residence.Since the 19 th century,overseas Chinese have immigrated to Singapore in large Numbers peacefully,making a certain contribution to the early development of Singapore.Before the Anti-Japanese War,overseas Chinese in Singapore had a certain influence on the politics and economy of their residence,and became a backbone force in the colonies,second only to the colonial government.After the outbreak of Japan’s war of aggression against China,the overseas Chinese in Singapore set up the nanyang overseas Chinese relief association headed by Mr.Tan kah kee and began to provide manpower and material support for the motherland.After the outbreak of the Pacific war,the overseas Chinese in Singapore set up the Singapore overseas Chinese anti-enemy mobilization association in their place of residence to participate in the anti-japanese struggle,effectively strengthening the local anti-japanese armed forces,although the final failure,but still can be regarded as a anti-japanese backbone group.After the fall of Singapore,the overseas Chinese began to fight against Japan behind the enemy lines.Under the leadership of all the political parties in Malaya,they wrote a glorious chapter of anti-japanese struggle.The reactionary policies of the Japanese army against the overseas Chinese,such as the investigation of the massacre,the collection and payment of nagin and the implementation of torture and other measures,brought huge losses of life and property to the overseas Chinese in Singapore and Malaya.Post-war Singapore overseas Chinese under the guidance of the government and civil society groups began to claim movement,the civil society and the government’s efforts to claim movement substantive results,in part to solace in the occupation ofthe undead,suffering and overseas Chinese contribution to the country and where anti-japanese struggle and sacrifice should also be remembered. |
