| Modernity is one of the key issues concerned by many western Marxist theorists. The Western Marxist critical theory of modernity points out that the lofty ideal of freedom, equality and rationality put forward in the period of enlightenment thought has not been realized, but has made the modern society fall into the ideal empty realistic chance. In view of this reality, reflecting on and studying modernity has become the main ideological logic of western critical theory of modernity. The new Marxism in Eastern Europe stands at the forefront of the theory of modernity, and has its own unique theoretical characteristics. As a member of the new Marxism in Eastern Europe,Feher criticizes and reconstructs the theory of modernity from a unique theoretical perspective. At present, the research on Feher’s critical theory of modernity is still very limited. The only research focuses on the origin of modernity, the internal logic of modernity critical theory and related political theory problems, and lacks the holistic research on Feher’s critical theory of modernity. For this reason, this paper studies Feher’s critical theory of modernity from the aspects of its formation, theoretical content and practical application,in order to reveal the value of Feher’s critical theory of modernity.Feher’s critical theory of modernity was formed under the influence of the thought of equality, freedom and democracy in the European Enlightenment through the analysis of the political, economic and cultural conditions in the French Revolution.Kant’s political philosophy,Marx’s historical materialism and Lukacs’ critical theory of modernity all had an important influence on Feher. On this basis,Fehrer put forward his own critical theory of modernity. In his view, democratic logic, capitalist logic and industrialization logic are the triple logic of modernity criticism, which interact, promote, complement and restrict each other, and together constitute the important content of modern critical theory.Freedom and life are the core values of modern criticism, while postmodern hermeneutics is the unique narrative mode of modern critical theory.Although this postmodern dimension is different from "modern ",it is the continuation and development of modern times. At the same time,Fehrer also applied his critical theory of modernity to the practice of Jacobin’s politics and economy, and looked forward to the political and economic prospects of modern society through the results of practice. He criticized the political, economic and cultural practices in the Jacobin dictatorship. In Feher’s view, the "free tyranny" of the "German Republic" embodies the democratic logic in the critical theory of modernity, and the state political intervention in the system of "finger voucher" embodies the economic logic of the critical theory of modernity.Through criticizing the modernity of Jacobin’s dictatorship,Feher puts forward the pursuit of real democracy and freedom in politics and the decentralization of state power in economy.Feher’s critical theory of modernity is displayed in the political practice of Jacobin’s dictatorship. On the basis of reinterpretation of the French Revolution,Feher traces the origin of the critical theory of modernity, and develops a new perspective on the study of modernity theory from the perspective of history and political science. It infuses fresh blood into Budapest School’s critical theory of modernity. But at the same time,Feher’s critical theory of modernity also has some theoretical defects.Fisher pointed out that modernity originated in the French Revolution and studied it around the French Revolution. His theory was too limited to the Revolution and did not escape the framework of the Revolution. At the same time,Feher pays too much attention to theory and neglects the existence of reality in theoretical research, which leads to a certain gap between his theory and reality. In addition,Feher’s critical theory of modernity also has certain reference significance to China’s socialist construction. |
