| In 2016,another major turning point occurred in the UK since World War II-the Brexit Referendum was successful.52% of the people believed that the UK should not stay in the EU,and the Brexit agenda was launched immediately.For the successful Brexit referendum,many experts and scholars call it the "black swan" event.However,any political event is not accidental,and the success of Brexit referendum is no exception.In the analysis of the reasons for the success of Brexit referendum,we find that the UK Independence Party played an important role in it.This paper adopts the methods of historical analysis and literature research to study the role played by the British Independent Party in the process of Brexit.Firstly,this paper analyzes the relevant concepts of the UK Independence Party,introduces populism and the populist parties in Britain,and focuses on the organizational structure,political views and ideological characteristics of the UKIP.Secondly,it analyzes the reasons for the establishment and development of the UKIP by combing the timeline of the UKIP.Thirdly,through news reports and scholars’ views,it reveals the inseparable relationship between the UKIP and Brexit.Finally,from the perspective of Ideological and public opinion,political mobilization and leaders’ outstanding contribution,this paper analyzes the role played by the UKIP in the process of Brexit.This paper believes that Nigel· Farage,the leader of the UKIP,has won the trust of the voters by relying on his unique political Charm.In terms of Ideological and public opinion,the UKIP found out the topic most concerned by the public,and used the characteristics of social media to consolidate the interests of the people in the process of political mobilization,the UKIP adopted a decentralized and diversified mobilization strategy to further consolidate the supporters of the UKIP,and at the same time,it also won supporters with other political views,which directly led to the realization of Brexit. |
