On The Study Of The Power Structure And The Relationship Between The Elites And The Masses Of The Family Politics In The Philippines

The family politics in the Philippines has been one of the great obstacles to the development of democratic politics.The ‘anti political family act’ has been put on hold in the Philippine Congress for more than 30 years.The Philippine family political wind has never ceased,even There have been appalling political vendettas that killed more than 40 people.Therefore,at the time of 2022 political election in Philippines,many problems and root causes behind family politics are a subject to be discussed.The purpose of this paper is to analyze the family politics in the Philippines,mainly from two aspects: the interest fit between the family politics and the government power pattern,the relationship between the elites and the masses,and put forward the corresponding countermeasures,in order to provide some reference for other similar family politics in developing countries.The Philippine family politics is produced with the construction of the nation-state,which is one of the products of the post national development era.Up to now,it can be divided into three stages: the early stage of 1946;the high-speed development stage from 1946 to 1987;the political influence of Philippine family has been increasingly prominent since 1987.The family politics in the Philippines mainly presents two major problems: one is the dispute between the big families;the other is the contradiction between the elites and the masses.The root lies in: on the one hand,the power pattern is in line with the political and economic interests of the family,and a complex and staggered interest network is formed;on the other hand,the interest stratification between the elites and the masses alienate the relationship between them.Therefore,to get rid of the plight of Philippine family politics,we must improve the power structure,the relationship between the elites and the masses.There are contradictions and reasons between the seemingly democratic political system of the Philippines and the practical operation mode of family politics.Although it is a paradox,it also means that family politics in the Philippines will exist for a long time to come.
