Research On The Impact Of RAND Corporation On US National Security Policy

Think tanks,are policy advisory organizations that specialize in developmental research.They bring together experts from different fields,use their wisdom and talents to provide solutions for economic and social development,and provide government or other institutions with Policy consulting services.The United States is the country with the largest number of think tanks in the world and the earliest country to develop think tanks.Studying American think tanks is of great significance to the development of China’s think tanks.This article explores the extent to which RAND has an impact on US national security policies and how to assess its impact in this regard.It is hoped that through research,the general method for assessing the influence of think tanks will be explored.This article uses historical analysis to review the development of RAND Corporation from its inception to the present day.Based on the actual situation of RAND Corporation,it analyzes the path and mechanism of its impact on US national security policy,and uses case analysis to analyze the impact of RAND Corporation Two cases of U.S.national security policy have explored specific impact factors.The qualitative and quantitative research method is used to try to put forward the influence evaluation framework of think tank in the field of American national security,and use this as a means to evaluate the influence of Rand Corporation.The research in this paper finds that US think tanks are an important factor influencing US national security policies,and policy advice from think tanks provides important support for the formulation of security policies and strategies.As the top ten think tank in the United States,RAND Corporation provides policy ideas for decision makers and directly sends talents to the government,which greatly influences American political decision-making.Research on RAND Corporation helps us grasp US national security General rules for policy making.The impact assessment framework constructed in this paper provides a reference evaluation index system for China to study the influence of US think tanks on national security policies and policies,and helps China to deepen its research on think tanks and understanding of policy making.
