| General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized at the Central Rural Work Conference,“We must persist in looking at agriculture,rural areas,and peasants with a historical perspective.” Looking back at history,Mao Zedong investigated the problems of rural governance during the investigation of the Hunan Peasant Movement.Studying the process,methods and results of Mao Zedong’s investigation of the Hunan peasant movement can draw lessons from history and provide useful enlightenment for improving the level of contemporary rural governance.In 1927,in order to understand the situation of the peasant movement in Hunan,Mao Zedong went deep into the masses,held various forms of investigation meetings,visited poor peasants,listened to the true voice of the bottom of society,and viewed the changes brought about by the peasant movement to rural society from the standpoint of the peasant class.He obtained a lot of first-hand information about the rural society at that time.During the inspection,Mao Zedong discovered that there were sharp class struggles in rural society,the disconnection between farmers and the land,the uneven quality of farmer associations,and the diversified and frequent conflicts and conflicts in rural governance.After the inspection,Mao Zedong sorted out the information obtained from the investigation in time to form the "Hunan Peasant Movement Investigation Report." The "Report" contains rich rural governance ideas such as emphasizing farmers’ issues,developing grassroots democracy,and carrying out in-depth rural investigations.Mao Zedong’s investigation of the peasant movement in hunan has important enlightenment for contemporary rural governance.First,We should pay attention to the power of farmers,combine the needs of farmers,and let go to mobilize the masses.Second,we should strengthen the education of farmers in terms of spiritual civilization and legal thinking.Third,smooth public opinion expression by improving the government’s credibility,improving the public opinion expression system,and helping disadvantaged groups in rural areas.Fourth,we must pay attention to investigation and research,be problem-oriented,and follow the mass line to carry out typical investigations. |
