The Research On The Media Image About China National Men’s Basketball Team In People’s Daily

The development of basketball in China has a history of more than 100 years,and it is deeply loved by the people.China’s national men’s basketball team,is a sports team carrying the glory,dream and fighting spirit.It has won the FIBA Asian championship many times,and entered the Olympic quarterfinals three times.It has a unique meaning in the hearts of the Chinese people,and is also the object of long-term media attention."People’s Daily" is one of the most authoritative mainstream media in China,its construction of the China’s national men’s basketball team media image not only affects people’s understanding,but also has guiding significance for other media reports.This media image construction is affected by the external environment,such as international exchanges and domestic politics,and is closely related to the development of the China’s national men’s basketball team.This paper focuses on the media image of the China’s national men’s basketball team in People’s Daily from 1949 to 2019,using the methods of documents and content analysis,combining the changes of China’s political and economic environment and the development of the China’s national men’s basketball team.On the whole,the media image of the China’s national men’s basketball team has gone through four stages: from 1949 to 1978,the image of the messenger of sports diplomacy;from 1979 to 1992,the image of Chinese athletes who won glory for the country;from 1993 to 2008,the image of "men’s basketball spirit";from 2009 to 2019,the image of the ordinary sports team fighting hard.The media image of the China’s national men’s basketball team has distinctive imprint in different period,and presents obvious characteristics of "depoliticization".When reporting the Chinese men’s basketball team and other sports teams,the media should grasp the scale,not judge teams only by their success or failure,and properly add non-event reports to make the media image of the Chinese men’s basketball more vivid,make Chinese sports more popular.
