Compared with the other language basic skills,reading is often considered to be one of the most important parts in English teaching.Many students have felt it very difficult to learn reading effectively.In addition,they cannot understand the meaning with the new words in the new texts.With the purpose of this research testify the effectiveness of the Eclectic Approach based on CALL on senior high school students’ English reading learning and solve some problems of the contemporary reading teaching situation and students’ learning issues.The following questions are to be addressed in the research:Question 1: What is the influence of the Eclectic Approach based on CALL on senior high school students’ reading motivation?Question 2: What effects does the Eclectic Approach based on CALL on senior high school students’ reading methods and strategies?Question 3: To what extent does the Eclectic Approach based on CALL improve students’ English reading proficiency?This research project was implemented in Chaoyang Liu Cheng Senior High School which is situated in Chaoyang City,Liaoning Province,lasting 18 weeks from 4th March 2019 to 11 th July 2019.There were ninety-eight students were selected from two equal level classes of Grade One.Class Thirteen as the experimental class(EC)while Class Fourteen as the control class(CC).The CC was still taught by the traditional English teaching method while the EC was taught with the Eclectic Approach based on CALL when research experiment was carrying out in the senior high school.All the data were collected by questionnaires,pre-and post-test as well as the interview and were analyzed by qualitative and quantitative methods.Findings of the research indicate that students’ reading motivation have been improved significantly than before after using the Eclectic Approach based on CALL,the Eclectic Approach based on CALL supports students’ reading methods and strategies in teaching English reading to a great extent.Moreover,there is a noticeably improvement of students’ reading proficiency.Thus,the Eclectic Approach based on CALL is employed to teach English reading is very efficient.Finally,some pedagogical implications and suggestions are discussed,which have positive effects on students’ learning,teachers’ teaching as well as the further research.
