Abstract/Summary:
Pro-social behavior refers to all behaviors that are conducive to social harmony,in which people voluntarily use the attitude of modesty, assistance, cooperation and sharing to conduct social communication, and even make self sacrifice for the interests of others. In the past studies of pro-social behavior, although it has been confirmed that junior high school students’ father’s position,self-esteem and pro-social behavior are closely related, few studies have specifically examined how self-esteem plays a role between father’s position and pro-social behavior. The author believes that self-esteem,as the main component of the individual cognitive system,is likely to be the near-end factor of the influence of father’s position on adolescents’ pro-social behavior.Based on the above understanding, the author selected 360 junior middle school students from a middle school in Guang’an City to conduct a questionnaire survey. The conclusions are as follows:(1)The father of junior high school students has higher quality in office. There are significant differences in gender and grade,in which the father’s presence of male junior high school students is significantly higher than that of female junior high school students, and the father’s presence of junior two students is significantly higher than that of junior three students. However, there is no significant difference in the family source and whether the father is the only child.(2)The self-esteem level of junior high school students is above average. There are no significant differences in gender, whether they are only children, family source and grade.(3)The level of pro-social behavior of junior high school students is also above average. There are significant differences in family sources and grades, among which the level of Pro social behavior of junior high school students living in urban areas is significantly higher than that of junior high school students living in rural areas;the level of Pro social behavior of junior high school students is significantly higher than that of junior high school students living in rural areas. There was no significant difference in gender and whether they were only children.(4)There is a significant positive correlation between father’s presence and self-esteem,as well as pro social behavior.Meanwhile, father’s presence can positively predict self-esteem and pro social behavior.(5)There is a significant positive correlation between self-esteem and pro-social behavior, and self-esteem can also positively predict pro-social behavior.(6)Self-esteem plays a partial mediating role in the influence of father’s position on pro-social behavior. From this,we can find that: junior high school students’ father in office,self-esteem and pro-social behavior are two related variables, and self-esteem plays a part of intermediary role in the influence of father in office on pro-social behavior.Social work has its own unique advantages.Based on this research,we can put forward professional suggestions for the improvement of junior high school students’ father’s position and self-esteem from the perspective of family system theory, social learning theory and cognitive behavior theory, which will help to improve the level of Pro social behavior of middle school students and promote the construction of a harmonious society.
