The father-child relationship is a critical factor for the junior middle schoolstudents to successfully go through the adolescence。On the basis of previousresearches about father relationship, this study examined father presence of juniormiddle school students, mastered the situation of father presence of junior middleschool students, explored the relation between the level of father presence andtheir antagonistic psychology, psychological intervention was taken to the juniormiddle school students who has low level of father presence。This study revised the “Father Presence Questionnaire for Junior middle schoolstudent” by document collection,interviews and questionnaires,explored therelation between the level of father presence and antagonistic psychology of thejunior middle school students,and improved the level of the father presence of thesubjects to some extent through the intervention。The major findings are as follows:(1)The reliability coefficient of the revised scale is good.(2)The level of father presence of the junior middle school students was goodin general, the scores of INF and PHF are lower than other dimensions。There issignificant difference between city and countryside at the level of father presence ofthe junior middle school students,the same finding is found between ordinarysecondary school and key secondary school.(3)There is remarkable negative correlation between the level of fatherpresence and the antagonistic psychology,the correlation coefficients between thescore of antagonistic psychology and both the score of dimension of parentsrelations and the whole questionnaire are higer than other dimensions, whichindicated that there maybe a more strong relation between the junior middle schoolstudents antagonistic psychology and both parents relations and the quality of thefather presence. (4)The intervention of group counseling is effective to junior middle schoolstudents whose level of father presence is low.
