With the popularization of mobile internet technology and the gradual increase of residents’ income,social media has penetrated into the daily life of the people of the Lahu ethnic village,which has provided the possibility of the media empowerment of the people of the Lahu ethnic village.Paying close attention to the social media usage behavior of the Lahu ethnic villages and exploring how the Lahu ethnic villages use social media to seize the opportunities of digital development is a practical topic of great practical significance.At present,most Lahu people in villages use social media for 1 to 3 hours a day.They pay more attention to entertainment content.Most of the platforms are focused on platforms such as We Chat,Douyin,and Kuaishou.The tool usage awareness is not strong.The survey shows that the use of social media by the people of Lahu villages is mainly influenced by the level of regional development,the concept of the group of the people and the personal factors of the people.Although social media has been embedded in the daily life of the people of the Lahu village,the media participation capacity of the Lahu village is limited,the media’s ability to criticize is insufficient,and the practice of media empowerment is also lacking.The reasons for these problems are the limitations of Lahu people’s own personal conditions,the lack of targeted content resources on the communication platform,and the lack of government guidance on the use of social media by Lahu people.The use of social media is not only a change in media contact behavior for the Lahu people,but also a digital development opportunity for the Lahu people.The relevant accounts on the government,social platforms,and village people can be achieved by optimizing the use of social media.Empowerment benefits.By providing public products,the government improves the overall cultural and educational level of the Lahu villages,strengthens media literacy education and engages with social platforms to carry out specific practical projects;the social platforms already have relevant accounts.;Members of the Lahu ethnic villages must correctly understand the positive role of social media and learn to improve the use of skills,but also to effectively seize the opportunities for digital development by training opinion leaders.
