For the time being, the situation of the Spoken English learning in our country is that:People don’t use English in their daily life, mostly confined to the classroom and lacked of the real interaction and natural language contexts. The Three-Dimensional virtual environments for socialized purposes can effectively solve some of the problems in the Spoken English learning.The research is based on the open and socialized3D virtual environment named SecondLife which has a large number of native English speakers, and then the thesis probes into the research on the design and application of Spoken English learning activities from both theoretical and practical aspects. The thesis proposes a model for Spoken English learning activities by integrating the Activity theory, Second Language Acquisition theory and SecondLife, and then completes the Spoken English learning activities, finally organizes and completes the Spoken English learning activities experiment in SecondLife.The research indicates that the highly simulated physical environment and socialized interpersonal contexts can enhance learners’interest and enthusiasm. The participants are able to join the learning activities under the guidance of the instructors, and complete the pre-designed learning tasks through group collaboration, self-inquiry learning, etc. The proposed design of Spoken English learning activities is reasonable when validating the learning effect after the learning activities experiment. And the conclusion indicates that the learning activities can effectively improve the learners’Spoken English skills.
