In recent years, with the rapid development of China’s social economy, the rapid rise of urban construction and industrialization, large areas of rural land have been requisitioned, and a large number of land-lost farmers have emerged. The government’s compensation for land expropriation is not in place, farmers’ own quality is low,it is difficult to find new jobs under the market economy, and so on.This makes the problem of re-employment of land-lost farmers become the main contradiction that affects the building of a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way,and it is the livelihood problem that needs to be solved urgently in the current socialist construction.Entrepreneurship is an important way to solve the difficulty of re-employment.Entrepreneurship not only solves the problem of re-employment of land-lost farmers, but also provides employment opportunities and posts for other unemployed farmers. It is an important way for farmers to increase their income continuously and improve their living standards. This paper takes the employment problem of land-lost farmers as the research object, takes human capital theory and entrepreneurship theory as the theoretical basis, and combines the current situation of land-lost farmers to analyze the factors affecting land-lost farmers’ entrepreneurship, thus laying a theoretical foundation for this paper. At the same time, the 2013 rural household survey data of China urban and rural household income survey(CHIP)are used to study the impact of education level of land-lost farmers on their income from self-employment by combining theories and empirical methods. In the empirical part, this paper USES the benchmark regression model to investigate the impact of education on the entrepreneurial income of land-lost farmers.Considering the self-selection problem of land-lost farmers and the endogenous problem of education, this paper further selects three-stage estimation to study the influence of education on the income of land-lost farmers. On this basis, the influence of education on different employment choices of land-lost farmers is studied. In the case of controlling sample selection bias and endogeneity of education, education has a significant positive impact on the income of land-lost farmers’self-employment.With the improvement of years of education, the income of land-lost farmers’ self-employment will increase by 8.3%,which reflects that education, the human capital, has an important impact on the employment income of workers. This study also found that personal characteristics, social capital, entrepreneurial characteristics and regional characteristics all have.an impact on the employment choice and entrepreneurial income of land-lost farmers, among which entrepreneurial characteristics are more explanatory.Age and gender of land-lost farmers have significant influence on their entrepreneurial choice, among which age has an inverted "U" shape. In the study of the impact of education on the income of self-employment and employment of land-lost farmers,it is found that although self-employment can bring more income, there is no significant difference between the educational return rate of self-employment and employment of land-lost farmers from the estimated coefficient of the interaction term of education years and self-employment variables.Combined with the above analysis, the government should vigorously develop rural education, increase the input of education funds, carry out entrepreneurship knowledge and skills education and training, improve the education level of land-lost farmers, support qualified land-lost farmers to actively start their own businesses, achieve re-employment of land-lost farmers, and ensure their living standards and quality.
