Social Work Intervention Land-Lost Farmers Employment AID To Study

Since entering the 21st century, China has gradually speeded up the development and pursuing economic development is still the current central and primary task. Under the background, China’s urbanization rate has increased year by year; with the acceleration of urbanization, urban scale expands unceasingly, and more and more rural land is expropriated; thus, the number of land-lost farmers shows a trend of rapid growth. Farmers loose their land on which they used to depend for survival and the employment way gradually shifts to non-agricultural direction. Due to their own quality, system and management and other sorts of reasons, some farners loose their land and job, even cannot obtain basic social life safeguard and become new group in difficulties. The fundamental way out in guaranteeing their basic life lies in the employment. How to successfully solve the employment of land-lost farmers, and ensure their long-term livelihood and social stability during the development of urbanization are the realistic problems that must be solved in the process of urbanization.By combining the case study, Y Community, Binhu District in Wuxi is selected as the research object. Wuxi, as one of the economically-developed Yangtze River delta cities, plays demonstration leading role in the national urbanization construction. In recent years, Wuxi has achieved rapid economic growth and speeded up the urbanization process gradually. In order to save land resources more effectively, the project of "moving enterprises from city center to the industrial gardens" executed by the local government makes a large number of farmers lose their land, and turn to citizens; in the process of relocation of farmers, their employment problem becomes increasingly obvious. The employment support policy of the government departments in social work perspective can link the generalized system of preferences with the employment training of land-lost farmers and let more land-lost farmers receive benefits. Besides, although there are a lot of researches on land-lost farmers’ employment, very few ones are about the field of social work, including overseas researches. The use of the theory of rural social work method is quite important for the construction of socialist new countryside, and China’s relevant documents have indicated the importance of social work. Therefore, the study on the social work intervention in land-lost farmers’ employment with Y community, Binhu District, Wuxi as a case has a certain practical and theoretical significance.Through the on-the-spot investigation in Y community, Binhu District, Wuxi, and combining with the characteristics of region, case work and group work mode are selected to intervene in employment aid of land-lost farmers; the case processes of case work and group work in the social work intervention of land-lost and unemployed farmers are explained and analyzed; the effect of intervention of social work is evaluated. The project has also had a certain positive effect on the land-lost farmers in Binhu District, Wuxi, namely, farmer individual ability has been improved; their economic sources have been guaranteed; and the good social support network has been established.
