The Interventional Study Of Social Work On Autism Families’ Social Support

Since autism entered people’s field of vision as a disease in the 1940s,its incidence has been increasing year by year,causing a heavy economic and spiritual burden on autism and their families,and even becoming a social problem.The solution to the problems of the autistic group involves multiple levels such as hospitals,government policies,education systems,and society.Therefore,whether the families can obtain effective social support is of great significance to the rehabilitation and development of persons on the autism spectrum and the stability of their families.This thesis is based on the S social work institutions and selected 16 autism families as the research objects.The social support status and needs of autism families were researched by using the methods of interview and participant observation through entering hospitals,rehabilitation institutions and autism families to do the interview with rehabilitation personnel,head of institution and family members of autism,as well as to observe the rehabilitation environment and family environment of autism,and the interaction between autism families and social environment.The study found that the social support needed by autism families mainly includes formal support from hospitals,government departments,education systems,etc.,and informal support from relatives and friends,medical staff,rehabilitation teachers,etc.However,due to the limited social support for the autism group and the insufficient ability of the autism families to obtain social support,the formal and informal support received by the autism families is very lacking.And it is difficult to establish an effective social support network through their own strength.Therefore,the autism families’ needs are multifaceted,including rehabilitation needs,economic needs,education needs,family structure stability needs and social acceptance needs.In response to the above needs,the study designed and carried out case work and group work at a practical level to explored the entry point of social work involved in the construction of a family social support network for autism,and summarized the effectiveness of the service.And the study put forward suggestions in which fields and aspects social work can further play a role.
