The purpose of this study is to introduce STEM education into local kindergartens and improve the STEM teaching ability of kindergarten teachers in practice.The study used the paradigm of action studies to collect data using observation and interview methods.Based on the concept map and stem teaching ability evaluation index formed on the basis of literature,this study selected 8 teachers from S Park as the research object,who were from two large classes and two middle classes respectively,and determined the problems to be solved in the action study according to the results of the pre-test.Before and after the study,through the quantitative analysis of the concept map and STEM teaching ability observation and evaluation scale,the change of teacher STEM teaching ability of teachers before and after the study was briefly analyzed,and on the other hand,the improvement of teacher STEM teaching ability was presented through detailed qualitative analysis.The results of the study show that,first,teachers in learning and practice to deepen the understanding of "STEM teaching." Second,teachers improve STEM teaching design ability through continuous activity design and improvement.Third,teachers improve the ability of STEM teaching implementation through teaching video analysis and learning.Fourth,teachers through the collective teaching and research in the continuous analysis of themselves and others,improve the STEM teaching evaluation and reflection ability.Finally,the researchers discussed the improvement of stem teaching ability of teachers in the course of research and the reasons for the different performance of teachers of different ages.Relevant educational recommendations are also put forward: using concept maps to assess teachers’ understanding of STEM teaching.
