Since the 21st century,the United States has profoundly realized that scientific and technological advancement and innovation in the digital age are the driving forces for economic development,and it is also necessary to enhance national competitiveness.To this end,the United States has been committed to the development of STEM education.Nowadays,as an indispensable part of STEM education,early childhood STEM education has received wide attention from all walks of life in the United States.At the level of government policy,theoretical studies of scholars or first-line school activities have all been fully demonstrated.Early childhood STEM education refers to the education of science,technology,engineering and mathematics in the early childhood period.It aims to emphasize the training and experience of young children's thinking and prepare for the future STEM study.Therefore,the study provides an inspiration for the practice of preschool STEM education in China by analyzing the current state of the STEM education curriculum in the United States and further analyzing the curriculum practice of the early childhood STEM education through specific courses in Massachusetts.This research uses literature research methods,text analysis methods,and case analysis methods.The study is divided into six parts.The first part is an introduction,which mainly discusses the reason for the topic selection,the research significance,the concept definition,the research status at home and abroad,and the research ideas and methods.The second part introduces the general situation of American early childhood STEM education,including its development background,development status and social needs.The third part explains the characteristics of American early childhood STEM education.The fourth section examines the framework of Massachusetts's early childhood STEM curriculum standards.The fifth section analyzes the teaching cases of early childhood STEM courses in Massachusetts.The sixth part summarizes the characteristics of American early childhood STEM education and gives some inspiration.
