Local curriculum is closely related to national curriculum and school-based curriculum.It is a supplement to national curriculum and an important reference for school-based curriculum development.It has the characteristics of regionality,pertinence and times.Local curriculum is closely related to local culture.Local culture helps the development and implementation of local curriculum.Local curriculum helps the identification and inheritance of local culture.In recent years,the development of local curriculum has fallen into the dilemma of insufficient attention from the government and insufficient connection between curriculum content and local culture.In this study,literature research method is used to collect all kinds of literature related to local curriculum;questionnaire and interview are used to investigate 200 primary and secondary school principals and some administrators of education administration department in Yichang,and to sort out the deficiencies in theory and practice.This study believes that there are some problems in the development and implementation of local curriculum in Yichang,such as unbalanced regional development,lack of cultural perspective of curriculum concept,lack of segmented curriculum objectives,lack of scientific evaluation system,single form of curriculum implementation and lack of professional teachers.This study holds that Yichang is a place of cultural prosperity.Its diverse culture can be summarized as hydropower engineering culture,ancient architectural culture,natural and humanistic landscape,celebrity culture,military culture,ancient cultural sites,literature Yichang,folk culture,diet culture,Tujia culture,etc.The diversity culture of Yichang has the characteristics of integration of history and modern times,combination of science and humanities,coexistence of elegance and simplicity.Culture and curriculum complement each other,curriculum transmission and selection of culture,culture affects curriculum content and curriculum concept.Based on the perspective of cultural diversity,there are still some improvements in Yichang local curriculum.First,curriculum development should be supported by curriculum policies of governments at all levels,constructivism and multiculturalism.The second is to improve the curriculum standards of Yichang local curriculum from four aspects: the nature of the curriculum,the basis of development,the concept of development and the objectives of the curriculum.Thirdly,it expands its contents in theform of special topics,including seven topics: Yichang characters,Yichang antiques,Yichang customs and folk arts,Yichang flavor,Yichang scenery,Yichang battles,and Yichang science and technology.It also designs each topic from three aspects: teaching objectives,teaching suggestions and teaching ideas.Fourthly,it conceives the curriculum implementation from the teaching object,teaching time and curriculum implementation form.Fifth,improve the evaluation system of Yichang local curriculum from the two dimensions of student evaluation and teacher evaluation.Through the study of Yichang local curriculum based on cultural diversity,we hope to increase teachers’ and students’ understanding and love of Yichang,enhance teachers’ ability of curriculum understanding,implementation and development,promote the pace of basic education curriculum reform in Yichang,and inherit and develop the diversity of Yichang culture.
