Research On The Generation Of Social Workers’ Practical Knowledge In The Field Of Nursing Homes

The phenomenon of moderate aging and the development trend of pension service require social work’s professional ability to be improved.Western knowledge of social work is considered as the criterion,while local experience has been neglected.The internalization of social workers’ local knowledge production has aroused an upsurge of reflection.Focusing on the field of practice and producing local knowledge based on social workers’ practice has gradually become a consensus.This study mainly discusses the existence types,formation process and affecting factors of social workers’ practical knowledge in nursing home.By using Video-cued Multivocal Ethnography(VCE),13 social workers in Shanghai were respectively invited to express the contents associated with their brain in the process of watching video and recall the generating process of practical knowledge.This method first needs to collect relevant practical materials to produce service scenario video,which includes three service scenarios: admission adaptation,activity participation and roommate relationship.Then use Nvivo12 software to code the data,and found that: First,there are three types of social workers’ practical knowledge in nursing field: relational knowledge,strategic knowledge and principled knowledge.Relational knowledge includes Lajiachang,form of address,method of small care and Hongpengkua.Strategic knowledge includes peer education,technical visit,curve saving,family strong assist and centralized treatment.Principled knowledge includes warm,speak appropriately and listen frequently,megaphones and levers.Second,the generation of social workers’ practical knowledge goes through four stages:orientation,trial and error,verification and continuation.The generation process has the characteristics of overall gradual and local contingency.Third,the social workers’ positive belief is the factor that determining the generation of practical knowledge.Social workers’ position promote the continuous production of practical knowledge.The system and community of practice field shape the appearance of practical knowledge.Chinese traditional culture guides the generation of practical knowledge.Research returns to the practical nature of social work,focuses on the field of nursing home,pay attention to the daily discourse of social workers on the front line,tries to build a bridge between theory and practice,and promotes the formation of a social work knowledge system that fits Chinese culture.It also aims to enhance the professionalism of social work,providing a reference for exploring social workers’ practical knowledge in other fields.
