| Secondary vocational education for Individuals with autism will help them to improve education level,enhance their job readiness,and promote their better intergration into society.At present,the practical exploration and theoretical research in this field in China are still in the initial stage.This study evaluated the effectiveness and applicability of self-directed video prompting on the acquisition of vocational skills by the methods of both single case study and interview.In this study,four students with autism from special vocational schools were selected as the research participants.Modeling and a system of least-to-most prompts were used to teach them how to use the i Pad as a deliver device of self-directed video prompting in the Preliminary experiment.The single subject research with a multiple probe design across behaviors was used to explore the effect of self-directed video prompting on the acquisition of three vocational skills(Setting the western-style table,making sesame cookies and cleaning hotel bathroom)of students with autism.Then,the study attempted to extend the self-directed video prompting from individualized intervention to the classroom learning of existing vocational skills in special vocational school.Four participants used the self-directed video prompting to learn two new vocational skills(making coffee by hand and making moon cake)in class,and then the teachers of this course were interviewed about the opinions of this method.The purpose of this study was to further explore the applicability of selfdirected video prompting in special vocational schools.Results of the study demonstrate that:(1)All four students with autism learn how to use the i Pad as a self-directed prompting device by modeling and a system of least-to-most prompts.(2)Self-directed video prompting is effective in improving vocational skills of students with autism.(4)Self-directed video prompting is effective in maintaining vocational skills of students with autism.(5)Self-directed video prompting has good applicability in teaching new skills to students with autism.Based on the research results,the researcher put forward some suggestions which provide reference for future work from two aspects of teaching and research. |
