Early reading preparation is an important predictive indicator for children to adapt school life and obtain future academic achievements.Children in ethnic minority areas are affected by their own ethnic language culture and language environment.After they enter school education,they will initially face the problem of language learning.Early reading is an important part of preschool children’s language learning,and it is related that the children in ethnic minority areas will be able to adapt school life and academic study.Researchers have found through searching the existing literature that there are few studies on early reading ability with minority children as the research object.This study investigated the development of the early reading ability of children aged 5-6 years old in the minority communities in A Town,Dali City according to the children’s early reading ability in the region,analyzed the results and shortcoming of the region’s early reading ability training process,and on that basis,put forward targeted educational suggestions in order to provide scientific research to intervene scientifically for early childhood teachers in this region.First,a literature review is conducted on the related research on early reading,early reading ability,and education in ethnic minority communities.Based on the existing research results,the concept and measurement of early reading ability are defined and divided,with reference to existing academic papers.The application of the evaluation tools and methods of this study is according to the evaluation tools and methods of early reading ability adopted by the existing academic papersSecondly,a one-to-one measurement method was used to evaluate the early reading ability of 212 children aged 5-6 in A Town,Dali City,Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture from three aspects: reading skills,comprehension ability and text awareness,and recorded by means of audio and video recordings.Using descriptive statistics and independent sample T analyzes the test data.According to the analysis results,it can be seen that: First,the children in the area have developed early reading ability better;second,the children in the area have developed better reading skills,which are specifically expressed as follows: initial concept of books,higher reading interest,and better reading habits.Thirdly,the overall development of the comprehension ability of children aged 5-6 in the area is poor,which is specifically manifested as: the ability to describe the main content of the reading and the ability to express opinions about the reading are not good;fourthly,the better overall development of the writing awareness of the children aged 5-6 in the area,the specific performance: preliminary ability to distinguish and recognize characters.Finally,through interviews with kindergarten teachers and parents,the researchers discussed and analyzed the early reading ability of 5-6 children in the area based on the evaluation results,and put forward some targeted education suggestions on that basis: First,create a good reading environment,choose suitable reading materials;second,strengthen homeland cooperation,cultivate reading interest;third,pay attention to daily education,cultivate reading habits;fourth,change parental concepts,Kindergarten organize special training;fifth,Using multiple methods,Improve children’s ability to narrate the content of readings and express their views on the readings;sixth,Relying on the local culture,construct the early reading ability training program for children in ethnic minority communities.
