In the era of knowledge economy,high-quality human resources have become an important social resource.Therefore,colleges and universities play a more and more important role,and the demand for higher education also shows a trend of diversified development.Among them,the individual demand of higher education also presents a growing trend.Due to the constraints of many factors,the individual demand of higher education roughly forms four kinds of effective demand: academic demand,economic demand,social status demand and spiritual demand.The individual demand of higher education is more and more influenced by family factors,especially family capital.Among them,family economic capital and family cultural capital are closely related to the individual needs of higher education.This study attempts to study whether family economic capital and cultural capital have a significant impact on individual demand for higher education.In order to study the above problems,through extensive literature collection,this study has laid a foundation for the establishment of a theoretical model of the impact of family economic capital and family cultural capital on individual demand for higher education.Through the questionnaire of family economic capital,family cultural capital and the questionnaire of personal needs of higher education,this paper makes a field survey on college students.Based on the survey data,the differences between gender,ethnic group,residence type,registered residence and educational level were compared,and the correlation between family economic capital,family cultural capital and personal demand of higher education was discussed.The main conclusions are as follows: family economic capital is negatively correlated with economic demand,but not with social status demand;family economic capital is positively correlated with academic demand and spiritual demand;family cultural capital is positively correlated with academic demand,social status demand and spiritual demand,but positively correlated with economic demand.There is a significant positive correlation between family economic capital and family cultural capital.By comparing the combination types of family economic capital and family cultural capital,it is found that family economic capital is the real factor influencing college students’ economic needs,and family cultural capital is the real factor influencing college students’ academic needs and spiritual needs.In view of the above conclusions,the research puts forward some suggestions: to strengthen the education support and the reward and loan,to give the university students economic support,to balance the strong economic needs of the college students with low family economic capital,to form good cultural habits,to strengthen the cultural capital of families and individuals,to help the students form good learning habits,to establish a good outlook on life of college students Values and world outlook can help them form higher education personal needs,promote the individual academic needs of higher education of college students and enhance their enthusiasm for academic pursuit.
