In recent years, although college students are getting hotter and hotter in graduate school, many admissions units still find it difficult to attract enough quality students, which seriously affects the quality of graduate training. The reasons for this include the diversified needs of candidates for graduate school and the insufficient grasp of admissions units on students’ intention to enter graduate school and the changing trends affecting candidates’ choice of institutions and majors.Previous studies have mainly explored the influence of candidates, families, schools and society on the intention of graduate school, and although some studies have verified the influence of the above factors on the intention of graduate school, the correlation between the factors is not very clear. This paper intends to conduct an in-depth exploration of the behavior of IT college students in choosing to enter graduate school, with a view to making some suggestions for institutions to attract quality students. This paper selects the Decomposed Theory of Planned Behavior(DTPB)theory as the basis of research, and investigates the behavior of IT college students in choosing graduate school and its influencing factors through literature analysis, questionnaire survey and mathematical and statistical analysis methods.Firstly,We combed and summarized the motivations and expectations of postgraduate entrance examinations at home and abroad, the influencing factors of postgraduate entrance examination behavior intentions and related theoretical models, and add tutor trust, school trust and perceived risk variables on the basis of the DTPB model, and discuss tutor trust, school trust, perceived utility, perceived pleasure, perceived risk, superior influence, peer influence, external influence,self-efficacy and convenience on the behavioral intention of college students for postgraduate entrance examination.Secondly, based on previous studies, combined with the characteristics and actual conditions of postgraduate entrance examinations,a questionnaire on the selection behavior of IT college students for postgraduate entrance examinations was developed, and a total of 93 pre-questionnaires and 1009 formal questionnaires were collected.Secondly, use SPSS25.0 for descriptive statistical analysis and analysis of variance, and use Smart PLS3.0 for empirical analysis of the reliability and validity of the measurement model,PLS path relationship, multicollinearity, and model goodness of fit. Finally,The study results are analyzed and study conclusions are drawn, and based on this, relevant countermeasures are put forward to help colleges and universities attract high-quality students. The main research results include:(1)Behavioral attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control have a significant positive impact on the selection behavior of the postgraduate entrance examination.Among them, the behavioral attitude has the largest influence, the perceived behavioral control has the middle influence, and the subjective norms have the least influence;(2)Research subjects with different individual characteristics have different perceptions of each variable index.Students with medium grades have a stronger perception of the utility of the postgraduate entrance examination.Students with different admissions for the college entrance examination have no difference in perceptions of the 14 variables;(3)Perceived utility is produced by behavior and attitude The biggest motivation, and the overall impact of perceived risk on behavior and attitude is not significant, but for IT college students, the contradiction between employment and postgraduate entrance examination is an important risk perception factor;(4)The influence of superiors has the most significant influence on subjective norms, while the influence of peers has no significant influence on subjective norms.Based on this, this study believes that strengthening one’s own superior disciplines and specialties is the fundamental prerequisite for attracting high-quality students;enhancing the pertinence of postgraduate admissions publicity is the basic way to attract high-quality students;stimulating students’ enthusiasm for applying for the exam is an important way to attract high-quality students.
