Since the founding of New China,the Chinese government has attached great importance to the development of sports.And With the development of internationalization,the requirements for high-level athletes are increasingly higher.General Secretary Xi Jinping has proposed that China’s athletes can not only fight bravely in international competitions to win glory for the country,but also devote themselves to academic learning to make their contribution to the transformation of China from a big sports nation to a leading sports nation.In 2016,the State Council issued the document on strengthening school physical education to promote students’ physical and mental health and all-round development.It points out that due importance should be attached to both sports training and academic learning to improve the relatively poor academic performance of high level athletes.Schools must develop the awareness of all-round development,because only athletes performing well both in sports and academic are qualified for elite athletes.High-level athletes,a special group at universities and colleges,is a significant part of the college talent cultivation structure,making a big contribution in the development of college sports.Therefore,more importance has been attached to the academic learning of high-level athletes.What high-level athletes are supposed to acquire includes professional knowledge in sports,sports theories and sports skills.However,most high-level athletes in colleges and universities focus mainly on professional sports training,and there is a slight deficiency in learning investment in academic.Therefore,this study focuses on high-level athletes’ investment in academic learning at colleges and universities,evaluation of their academic learning situation from the perspective of psychology and behavior,so as to study their learning psychology and learning behavior.This study adopts document method,questionnaire survey,interview method,mathematical statistics and other research methods,combining learning investment theory.The investigation object is 295 high-level athletes from 5 colleges and universities in Gansu Province.Descriptive statistical analysis,difference analysis and discussion were conducted from four dimensions of cognitive input,behavioral input,emotional input and learning gain,as well as six secondary indicators of learning strategy application,academic course learning,learning exchange experience,relationship with classmates and tutors,school environment experience and self-evaluation of learning gain.The conclusion of this study shows that the overall situation of high-level athletes’ investment in academic learning at colleges and universities is good.The scores of cognitive input and emotional input are higher,while the scores of behavioral input are lower.The strong and weak dimensions of the influence on academic learning of high-level athletes are behavioral input,cognitive input,emotional input and learning gain respectively.Therefore,the conclusions of this study are as follows:(1)The overall situation of high-level athletes’ investment in academic learning is good,and the development of each dimension is unbalanced;(2)There are different demographic characteristics in high-level athletes’ investment in academic learning,and there are also differences among the four dimensions.In order to improve high-level athletes’ investment in academic learning at colleges and universities,this paper puts forward the following specific suggestions:(1)Colleges/universities should offer more majors to high-level athletes,and give them the right to choose the right one,so as to enhance their enthusiasm in academic learning;(2)Teachers need optimize the performance management,teaching content and teaching plans,so as to improve the effectiveness and pertinence of teaching;(3)Athlete students should establish a correct attitude towards academic learning,and make a reasonable plan for their training and academic learning,so as to cultivate their own independent learning ability.
