| The concept of autistic traits come from research on autism spectrum disorders. This trait is distributed continuously in a population and presents a pedigree state, with quantitative differences in severity. The autistic traits in the general population have not yet reached the clinical diagnostic criteria, they also show similar but less severe characteristics with autism in terms of expression, social skills, behavior patterns, which has a certain impact on their study and life.High school students are in the period of intense physical and mental changes, heavy academic pressure and complex social relations may make the negative effects of autistic traits more prominent. And they are also very concerned about their performance in the eyes of others, easy to have fear of evaluation. If the internal relationship between the individual characteristics of students and their school adaptation is ignored, and no guidance or intervention is given properly, their school adaptation and even the future development may be affected. In addition, some studies have found that self-compassion has positive effects on students’ academic growth,self-improvement and mental health. However,no scholars have directly explored the specific internal relations among them. Therefore, this study focused on high school students to explore the impact of autistic traits on school adaptation, evaluate the mediating role of fear in the relationship between the two,and the moderating role of self-compassion on the mediating model. In this study,761 high school students were selected as the research subjects.Questionnaire survey was used to study the relationship between autistic traits, fear of evaluation,self-compassion and school adaptation.SPSS26.0,Amos24.0 and Process were used to collate and analyze the data. The results indicated that:(1)Autistic traits can directly affect school adaptation. The higher the level of autistic traits, the students may show more maladjustment in school life.(2)Fear of negative evaluation and fear of positive evaluation played a partial mediating role in the effect of autistic traits on school adaptation.(3)Autistic traits influence school adaptation through the mediating model that fear of positive evaluation, and the self-compassion moderates this model.Specifically, for students with low level of self-compassion,high autistic traits will cause more fear of positive evaluation, which is not conducive to school adaptation.Generally speaking, the research explores the internal relationship between the autistic traits and school adaptation of high school students. The results show that individual characteristics of students play an important role in the process of school adaptation. We should combine individual and environmental factors to provide appropriate suggestions for their development. |
