The Effect Of Demand Perception On Altruistic Behavior Of Middle School Students

Altruistic behavior means a voluntary action,taking human as object,helping others but not requiring reciprocation,which is an important manifestation of prosocial behavior,as well as a research spot of social psychology realm in our country.Altruistic behavior not only suggests individual’s crucial socialized symbol of adapting society,but also has significant meaning on reinforcing citizen’s morality building,and constructing harmonious society.Throughout one’s life time,physiology and psychology develop quickest and best during middle school stage,in which students are malleable.Therefore,it is critical to guide students to establish healthy and correct outlook on the world,life and values,and cultivate students’ good virtue and manner of interacting with others.Via investigating altruistic behavior of middle school students,we could have a more clear sight on influence factors and mental model of altruistic behavior,and also help morality educator in school to formulate more fitting plans for middle school students.This study based on Batson empathy-altruism hypothesis,trying to explore the relationship among middle school students’ demand perception ability,empathy and situation safety.Adopting questionnaire method,650 middle school students in Shan Xi province took part in the survey to measure their demand perception ability,empathy situation safety and altruistic behavior,then explore the structural model of these variables.The study results showed the following conclusions:(1)Middle school students’ altruistic behavior show significant discrepancies on gender,grade,and subject.(2)The demand perception ability could positively predicts altruistic behavior.(3)The empathy conducts a mediating effect between demand perception ability and altruistic behavior.(4)Situation safety conducts a regulating effect among demand perception ability,empathy,and altruistic behavior.It positively regulates demand perception ability and empathy route significantly.In regards to cultivating middle school students’ altruistic behavior,several suggestions are brought up according to the conclusion:Firstly,altruistic behavior could be promoted by cultivating and elevating students’ demand perception ability;Secondly,students’ empathy degree could be raised by taking empathy training in mental health courses and topic class meeting,then altruistic behavior could be promoted by enhancing students’ empathy ability;Finally,teach students some safety guidelines and helping skills to guarantee their own safety while helping others by means of topic educational activities.
