Poverty Children’s mental health and development are high-profile.Prosocial behavior is a typically good quality.It refers to behaviors that are intended to increase the well-being of others,including cooperating with others,sharing resources and helping others.Poverty children live in a state of resource scarcity and economic pressure for a long time,and are more susceptible to environmental and other factors to affect the development of prosocial behaviors.This study investigated the developmental trajectory of prosocial behavior of poverty children and the effect of parenting style on the developmental trajectory of prosocial behavior of poverty children.Purpose:(1)To text the differences in demographic variables and prosocial behaviors between children from poor families and children from non-poor families.(2)To analyze the poverty children’s prosocial behavior develop in a non-linear trajectory or linear trajectory.(3)the prediction of both initial levels and growth in prosocial behavior from child gender and parenting style.(4)To explore the poverty children’s parenting style of latent profile analysis and analyze the poverty children in different groups development level and speed of prosocial behavior.Object and method:(1)Poverty children were assessed with Parental Bonding Instrument and Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire.(2)The sample of 763 poverty children from grade 3 of primary school to grade 3 of junior high school in five regions of Hunan province(changsha,hengyang,loudi,chenzhou,shaoyang),of whom the age of the effective subjects was11.8±2.53(M±SD)years old,317 males(42%)and 446 females(58%).(3)Differences test was used to explore the differences in demographic variables and prosocial behaviors in 800non-poverty children and 763 poverty children.(4)A two-year longitudinal study was implemented on 763 poverty children who were measured four times in total.Latent Growth Model(LGM)were used to investigate the developmental trajectories of prosocial behavior.(5)Latent Profile Analysis(LPA)to explore the poverty children’s parenting style and analyze the poverty children in different groups development level and speed of prosocial behavior.Results and Conclusions:(1)Poverty children show more prosocial behaviors than non-poverty children.(2)Poverty children’s prosocial behavior decreased in a linear trajectory from from grade 3 of primary school to grade 3 of junior high school,significant individual differences in the initial level and development rate.(3)Poverty boys had higher initial levels of prosocial behavior than girls,there was no significant gender difference in the rate of development.(4)Poverty children’s parenting style can be divided into three sub-groups: parents positive care group(34.9%),parents medium care group(36.3%),parents negative control group(28.8%).(5)The initial level of prosocial behavior of the poverty children in the parents positive care group was significantly higher than that in the parents medium care group and the parents negative control group,the development rate of prosocial behavior of the poverty children in the parents positive care group and the parents medium care group showed a linear decreasing trend,while the development rate of the children’s prosocial behavior in the parents negative control group group had no significant effect.Countermeasures and Suggestions:(1)In the process of cultivating poverty children’s prosocial behavior,parents should adopt positive parenting methods such as caring and encouraging autonomy and avoid too much negative parenting methods such as authority and control.(2)Educators should be aware of the potential heterogeneity in the background and cognitive structure of poverty children,and appropriate interventions should be carried out for different types of students,especially children growing up under the background of negative parenting style.(3)Help children to develop positive psychological quality and personality characteristics,promote the development of prosocial behavior.
