| Stressful life events are a kind of pressure and challenge for college students.When faced with stressful life events,some college students can rise to difficulties and continue to make progress and grow;some college students are hesitant,malaise,and lose their minds,as well as lack of wisdom.At present,most discussions on stressful life events and wisdom in the academic circles remain narrative,and empirical research is rarely used.Based on this,this research is based on the wisdom of the "integrity theory of morality and talent" and the "MORE life experience model" theory,adopts empirical methods,explores the internal mechanism of action,and is committed to exploring ways to improve the wisdom of college students.To explore the relationship between stressful life events and wisdom,898 college students participated in this study and completed four scales,which included Stressful Life Events Scale,Self-Assessed Wisdom Scale,Chinese Making Sense of Adversity Scale and Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale.And on this basis,it examine whether resilience played a mediation role in the association between stressful life events and wisdom,and whether adversity cognition moderated this mediating process.The results found that:(1)College students’ positive cognition of adversity,resilience,and wisdom are in the upper middle level,with less impact from life events experienced,and less negative cognition of adversity;(2)Stressful life events are significantly negatively correlated with wisdom,and positive cognition of adversity,resilience and wisdom are significantly positively correlated;(3)Stressful life events,positive cognition of adversity,negative cognition of adversity,and resilience can significantly predict college students’ wisdom;(4)Resilience plays a part of mediating role between the stressful life events of college students and their wisdom;(5)Negative cognition of adversity moderated the first half of this mediating path from stressful life events to wisdom.Compared with individuals with low negative cognition of adversity,the mediating effect is stronger in individuals with high negative cognition of adversity;Positive cognition of adversity moderated the direct effect of stressful life events on wisdom.Compared with individuals with high positive cognition of adversity,the direct effect is stronger in individuals with low positive cognition of adversity.This study shows that stressful life events of college students have direct effects on wisdom and indirect effects through resilience.Negative cognition of adversity can moderate the effect of stressful life events on resilience,and positive cognition of adversity can moderate the impact of stressful life events on wisdom.The wisdom education of college students can be carried out from the following aspects:(1)Create a relaxed learning and living environment by improving parenting methods in families,improving the physical environment in schools,and expanding the spiritual environment of teachers to reduce the pressure on college students;(2)Help college students to improve their resilience level by providing timely communication,conducting group assistant courses,and providing role models,so as to promote the growth of college students’ wisdom;(3)Guide college students to recognize adversity reasonably,and improve their wisdom level by adopting positive cognition of adversity and avoiding negative cognition of adversity. |
