The Case Study Research On The Resilience Condition Of The Disabled Youth

As a special group, disabled youth has been paid close attention to by the society. More and more related researches have been carried out in this field. The researches about resilience began in the1970s,until now, there have been rich results about its concept model and protective factors. Seen from the already researches, aimed at the resilience of disabled youth are very lack. The article tried to do research on the condition of the resilience of disabled youth, looking forward to give some effective ways to promote their resilience level.The content of this research include five aspects:adversity events that the disabled youth confront、the coping style they choose when they confront adversity events、the level of their resilience、the factor of resilience and the advice on how to promote the level of their resilience. On the choice of the research method, take the interview method to get the firsthand information. On the basis of sorting out and refining, reflect the questions that I want to. Using the method of between cases to analyze the adversity events that the disabled youth confront and the coping style they choose when they confront adversity events, the method of inside cases to analyze the level of their resilience.Through the analysis of the research material, we found that:disabled youth had been widely confronted adversity events include interpersonal relationship、study pressure、being punished、loss of something or somebody and adaptation to the health. What is more, some of these adversity events happened frequently and caused serious bad influence. Seen from the coping style disabled youth choose when they confront adversity events, we can say that their coping style are most negative. And the same individual chose different coping style when they confronted different adversity events, the different individual chose different coping style when they confronted the same adversity events. This coping style had differences and relevancy on the ages、 sexes and the kind of adversity events. Based on the research of adversity events that the disabled youth confronted and the coping style they chose when they confronted adversity events, according to the model of resilience hierarchy, using the three kinds of resilience strategy to reflect the level of their resilience. The three kinds are survival strategy、protection strategy and healthy strategy. They represent the level of resilience from the lower to the higher. On the analysis of the strategy that the objects of the research show to us, we found that their resilience levels were very low. On the basis of the interpretation and analysis on the resilience level, we made further analysis on the factors of resilience. Then we found it was inflected by the characteristics within the individual and the support system without the individual. Outgoing personality, favorable social competence、positive self-esteem and autonomy and the support system of companion、family、school and the society all can contribute to promote the resilience of the disabled youth.The research on the resilience of the disabled youth not only has theoretical value, but also realistic significance.More further research should be encouraged to make contributions to improve the social adaptation of the disabled.
