As a way of experiential learning and practical education,Geography study trip has become increasingly prominent in fulfilling the fundamental task of "cultivating people with morality" and cultivating the core literacy of the subject.Primary and secondary schools across the country responded positively and gradually promoted the implementation of research trips in primary and secondary schools. This paper designs a "four-dimensional" student participation questionnaire based on behavioral participation, cognitive participation, emotional participation, and student-teacher interaction, taking middle school students participating in geography study trips in four schools in the main city and districts and counties of Chongqing as the survey object.Investigate it’s participation in geography study trip, clarify the problems of student participation in the implementation of geography study trip, analyze the factors that affect student participation. On this basis,a strategy to increase student participation is proposed, with a view to improving the effectiveness of geography research travel for training the core literacy of geography disciplines. The main conclusions of this paper are as follows.1.The characteristics and existing problems of student engagement in the "four-dimensional".Students actively participate in discussions, responses, reflections, etc.,and have a high degree of behavioral participation, but they are not active in the early stage of study and insufficient preparations;Students are good at using in-depth cognitive strategies such as transfer application and comprehensive analysis, and have a high degree of participation in cognitive behavior, but some students still have inappropriate learning methods; Most students have a strong value identity, perseverance, satisfaction and sense of accomplishment for geography study trips, and a high degree of emotional participation; In the study, students have a strong dependence on teachers and peers, and they have a harmonious relationship, forming a benign and interactive relationship. The main issues in student participation are:Insufficient pre-study preparations and uncorrect attitude; The breadth and depth of discussions and exchanges in research needs to be strengthened;learning methods are unreasonable, comprehensive thinking ability is weak;knowledge structure is not perfect, ability to solve geographic problems needs to be improved;teacher-student staff ratio is unbalanced, and student participation is more polarized.2.Factors affecting student participation.Students’ own quality, original knowledge base, and teacher-student staff ratio are significantly positively correlated with student behavioral participation and cognitive participation;Teacher-student discussion frequency,teacher-student relationship harmony,teacher-student relationship influence, teacher professional quality and student participation are significantly positively correlated. The stronger the interaction between teachers and students, the higher the student participation;Peer relationship harmony and influence are significantly positively correlated with student engagement, and students have a strong dependence on peers;.School, family, and geographical environment will affect student participation to a certain extent.3.Aiming at the problems and influencing factors of students’ participation in research and study, put forward strategies to improve students’ participation in geography research trips, including:Correct the attitude of research and study, and make preparations for research;Improve research and learning methods, and enhance the level of geographic intelligence;Reasonably set up study groups to encourage students to participate in discussions;Elaborately design the research plan, scientifically plan the research route;Guide students to summarize and integrate, sort out and summarize the content of research.
