Teachers lay the very foundation of soul in education and win glorious sunshine among human career.Occupational happiness is vital to the career life which has impact on the quality of teaching.Preschool children are more apt to be affected by the emotion of teachers.Therefore,the occupational happiness for preschool teachers exerts huge influence on not only the career development of themselves but also the educated children and their families.Recently,special emphasis is putted on the development of preschool education in China.In spite of large increase in quantities of preschool established,the proportion of personnel establishment is however decreased in general.This situation leads the teacher population to a separation into two groups in the same working environment(i.e.permanent staff and temporary staff).In this study,the occupational happiness for preschool teachers is composed of five dimensions including emotional happiness,profession happiness,recognition happiness,physical/mental health and sense of support.Methods of questionnaire and interview were employed in this study to compare the level of occupational happiness between permanent staff and temporary staff,analyze the behind influencing factors and raise corresponding strategies.This study concludes on results of obtained questionnaires that: permanent staff sense more emotional happiness than temporary staff;in terms of profession happiness,permanent staff have higher level;temporary staff sense more recognition happiness than permanent staff;in terms of physical/mental health,temporary staff own better health;as for sense of support,temporary staff feel more support.According to the results of questionnaire and interview,the study finds the existing problems for preschool teachers.Temporary staffs generally have unstable work and students’ parents do not cooperate with work.And however,permanent staffs receive mismatch between income and give,work pressure is high but low status.The study therefore raises several suggestions to improve the level of preschool teachers occupational happiness.For Temporary staffs ensure professional development,strengthen communication with students’ parents,and improve professional recognition.For permanent staffs,improve management efficiency,guide positive evaluation,and establish reasonable career expectations.
