| China is the most populous country in the world,and hundreds of millions of laborers have huge job demand;The employment contradiction between employees’ difficulty in finding jobs and employers’ difficulty in recruiting is a major problem to be solved in employment in China.In recent years,with the deepening development of China’s information and communication technology and the continuous improvement of trade opening to the outside world,cross-border trade has shown strong vitality,especially in cross-border electronic commerce,which not only promotes the continuous increase of employees in cross-border electronic commerce,but also drives the increase of employees in related industries,which has an increasingly prominent impact on regional employment.Therefore,through empirical analysis,this paper aims to scientifically quantify the impact of cross-border electronic commerce development in different regions on regional employment scale and employment structure,and put forward relevant suggestions according to the research results,hoping to maximize the beneficial role of cross-border electronic commerce in employment and promote the expansion of employment scale and optimization of employment structure.This paper mainly adopts the methods of literature research,principal component analysis and regression analysis.Firstly,the relevant literature at home and abroad is combed,and the research situation of cross-border electronic commerce and employment is deeply analyzed.Secondly,the transaction cost theory and comparative advantage theory are regarded as the theoretical basis of cross-border electronic commerce’s development affecting employment;From five perspectives of technological progress,industrial structure optimization,investment in fixed assets,logistics development and the birth of new business forms,this paper analyzes the mechanism of cross-border electronic commerce’s development affecting employment scale,and puts forward the first research hypothesis of this paper: the improvement of regional cross-border electronic commerce’s development level will lead to the reduction of local employment scale;From the perspectives of technological progress and industrial structure optimization,this paper analyzes the mechanism of cross-border electronic commerce’s development affecting employment structure,and puts forward the second research hypothesis of this paper: the improvement of regional cross-border electronic commerce’s development level can optimize local employment structure.Then,it analyzes the present situation and future development trend of cross-border electronic commerce,as well as the employment scale and employment structure in China.Then,based on theory and literature research,this paper constructs an evaluation index system of cross-border electronic commerce’s development level,which includes 3 first-class indicators and 11 second-class indicators,and calculates the development level index of cross-border electronic commerce in 31provincial-level administrative regions in China by using principal component factor analysis.Based on this,the panel data of 30 provincial-level administrative regions and three subdivided blocks in China during 2006-2017 are taken as samples to conduct empirical regression analysis,in order to fully understand the impact of cross-border electronic commerce’s development in different regions on regional employment scale and employment structureThe empirical results show that the development of cross-border electronic commerce has reduced the employment scale in China,but promoted the optimization and upgrading of the employment structure in China.In terms of regions: in the highly developed areas of cross-border electronic commerce,the development of cross-border electronic commerce will lead to the reduction of regional employment scale,but it has no obvious impact on regional employment structure;In the moderately developed areas of cross-border electronic commerce,the development of cross-border electronic commerce has no significant impact on the scale of regional employment,but it will promote the optimization of regional employment structure;In the underdeveloped areas of cross-border electronic commerce,the development of cross-border electronic commerce will lead to the reduction of employment scale,but it will promote the optimization of employment structure.Finally,in order to give full play to the favorable role of cross-border electronic commerce in employment,this paper puts forward some relevant suggestions,including the following three points: First,build and improve cross-border electronic commerce’s industrial agglomeration to stimulate its employment creation potential;The second is to support the development of the cross-border electronic commerce platform and encourage innovation and entrepreneurship;Third,improve the talent training mechanism in cross-border electronic commerce and accelerate the pace of optimizing the employment structure. |
