Impact Of Childhood Stress,Resource Scarcity,and Security On Mate Selection Criteria

Mate selection is the core issue of evolutionary psychology.Individuals succeed in reproduction through mate selection,transfer genes to their offspring,and develop adaptability to their environment.The standard of mate selection is the basis of mate selection.Every individual has his own criteria for choosing a mate.The standard of spouse selection is one of the important factors that affect the marriage behavior and personal happiness.Therefore,the analysis of the influencing factors of College Students’ mate selection standards is helpful to help college students to solve the secret behind their mate selection requirements,understand their own mate selection standards,and establish a correct mate selection concept.In order to provide practical help for college students’ mate selection,based on the life history theory of evolutionary psychology,this paper studies how the environmental stress of College Students’ childhood interacts with the current environmental stress cues and affects the individual’s mate selection criteria for the opposite sex.The research includes two parts.The first part is to determine the starting material of resource scarcity and test whether it has the starting effect.The second part discusses the influence of childhood stress and resource scarcity on individual mate selection criteria.The childhood environmental stress scale,resource scarcity priming materials scale,ideal partner scale and sense of security scale were used to test the full-time undergraduates in Guangdong Province.The subjects were493 undergraduates.They read a piece of news about employment difficulties,and then filled in the childhood stress questionnaire,ideal partner scale and sense of security scale.After controlling for gender,age,grade and love status,the hierarchical regression analysis was carried out.The results show that: in terms of attraction vitality,childhood stress has a significant main effect,resource scarcity has a significant main effect,and childhood stress has a significant interaction with resource scarcity and sense of security.Under the start of resource scarcity,the greater the pressure of childhood,the lower the sense of security,and the lower the requirement of attraction vitality of the opposite sex.In terms of warmth and trust,there is a significant main effect of childhood stress,and there is a significant main effect of resource scarcity.There is a significant interaction between childhood stress and resource scarcity.Under the start of resource scarcity,the greater the pressure of childhood,the lower the requirement of warmth trust to the opposite sex.Under the start of resource scarcity,the less the pressure of childhood,the higher the requirement of warmth trust to the opposite sex.In terms of status resource,there is a significant main effect of childhood stress,and there is a significant main effect of resource scarcity.There is a significant interaction between childhood stress,resource scarcity and sense of security.Under the start of resource scarcity,the greater the pressure of childhood,the lower the sense of security,and the lower the status resource requirements of the opposite sex.Under the start of resource scarcity,the greater the pressure of childhood,the higher the sense of security,and the higher the status resource requirements of the opposite sex.
