With the improving of people’s material living standard and quality, the proportion of people who are overweight is rising, and there are more and more patients with obesity due to over nutrition. However, most female in society tend to be relatively symmetrical or slim.A research in 2008 report that among the female college students in China,13.94% were actually overweight and only 1.92% were obese, but 40.09% tried to lose weight many times because of poor physical satisfaction. The results show that female college students are usually at high risk of unhealthy weight loss,in which the negative body self-fat is widespread. In the past, most studies explored the attentional bias of individuals with NPS-F on the spatial dimension of body information, but paid less attention to the time course of attentional bias. Therefore, the purpose of this study was using rapid serial visual presentation(RSVP)which is classic research paradigms of attentional blink to explore the time course of body related information attention processing of individuals with NPS-F,in order to provide a new perspective for this kind of people to form correct body image.Previous studies have found that in attentional blink task, when emotional stimuli are used as T2,individuals with NPS-F are more likely to give priority to them, thus reducing the amount of attentional blink.Because of the negative body self schema, when using body related information words as T2,individuals with NPS-F will pay more attention to them. That is to say, compared with neutral words, the body related information words was more accurately recognized by the negative physical self-fat group, and the accuracy of the negative physical self-fat group to recognize the body related information words is higher than that of the control group. In Experiment 1,a single task RSVP paradigm was used.T1 included three fixed neutral words: Erhu, piano and flute,T2 includes fat words, thin words and neutral furniture words(20 words for each type),The interference item contains 50 inverted red neutral furniture words. The experiment was manipulated by changing the position of T1 and T2 in each trial,Subjects were required to report T2 accurately, ignoring T1 as much as possible.105 female college students aged 18-25 were recruited and divided into experimental group(44,nps-f ≥ 2.0)and control group(61,nps-f ≤ 1.5).Experiment 1 found that compared with the recognition of neutral words, the experimental group showed less attentional blink during the recognition of fat words. At the same time,we also found that the experimental group had attentional avoidance phenomenon in identifying thin words, showing that the recognition rate of thin words was lower than that of fat words and neutral words.People’s attention resources are limited,so the brain can’t process all the information at the same time.In the process of identifying interference stimuli(T1),individuals may not be able to use too much attention resources to recognize body information words(T2).Therefore,experiment 2 hypothesized that in the dual task RSVP paradigm of recognizing T1 and T2 at the same time, individuals with NPS-F could not produce the phenomenon of attentional blink reduction when recognizing T2.In Experiment 2,the dual task RSVP paradigm was used, and the lexical materials were the same as those in Experiment 1.The experiment was manipulated by changing the position of T1 and T2 in each trial. The subjects were asked to report T1 and T2 in turn while ignoring other interferences.77 female college students aged18-25 were recruited and divided into experimental group(33,nps-f ≥ 2.0)and control group(44,nps-f ≤ 1.5).Experiment 2 found that under the consumption of more attention resources(to identify T1 and T2),there was no significant difference between the accuracy rate of recognition of fat words and neutral words in the experimental group. In addition, the experimental group in the process of recognition of thin words still produced attentional avoidance phenomenon, the recognition accuracy of thin words is still lower than that of fat words and neutral words. In conclusion, compared with neutral words, individuals with NPS-F have less attentional blink when recognizing body information words. However, this kind of phenomenon has the particularity of lexical type,The recognition of fat words by this group will reduce the attentional blink, and the recognition of thin words will result in attentional avoidance phenomenon. This provides a new perspective for the psychological intervention of individuals with NPS-F.
