As one of the two important parameters to distinguish between mental retardation and non-mental disorder,adaptive behavior plays an important role in the growth and development of children with mental retardation.This study used group working methods to intervene the adaptive behavior of children with mental retardation to promote their adaptation and integration into society.This study mainly explores the effectiveness of group working methods in the improvement of adaptive behavior level in children with mental retardation.This study,on the basis of the literature review and collation of the study of adaptive behavior of children with mental retardation,taking the X Rehabilitation Institution of Chengdu as an example,using the Scale of Child Adaptive Behavior Assessment to measure the adaptive behavior of children with mental retardation,and screening 10 children with mental retardation.Through interviews with parents and institutional staff,the adaptive behavior problems and causes of children with mental retardation were analyzed.The author randomly divided children with mental retardation into experimental group and control group.Under the guidance of social study theory,social support theory,the members of the demand level theory intervened and provided peer support and family support.After the end of the group activity,the experimental group and control group members were measured again to collect later measurements.Finally,it compared the previous and later data of the experimental group members and the control group members.It concluded that the group work provided multiple support for children with mental retardation,met the various needs of children with mental retardation,and ultimately promoted the improvement of their adaptive behavior.
