Driven by economic growth and national strength, innovation has become the mainstream of society. The complex system of innovation activities is difficult to complete by individual strength alone. It requires the joint efforts of multiple disciplines and elements.Team innovation performs better than individual innovation.College students,as the main force in promoting the development of innovation, are increasingly valued by universities and society.College student innovation teams are the main organizational form for their innovation projects. When faced with complex situations, the innovation team needs to have more comprehensive resources and flexible problem solving. The ability of team members requires team members to give play to their respective advantages and brainstorm ideas,so how to form an excellent team is very important.Innovation performance is a key indicator to measure the success of college students’ innovation teams. It provides a reference for guiding the development of the team and promoting the formation of team results. It has important theoretical and practical significance for the research on the relationship between college students’ innovation team performance.Through combing and analyzing the literature, and drawing on the relevant research results of previous experts and scholars, this study divides the heterogeneity of college students’ innovation team members into three dimensions: social heterogeneity, information heterogeneity, and value heterogeneity.Conflict is divided into task conflict, relationship conflict and process conflict.Team performance is divided into three dimensions: task performance, satisfaction performance and innovation performance.A conceptual model of research theory is constructed, research hypotheses are put forward, and empirical analysis is carried out for in-depth discussion. The relationship between the heterogeneity of college students’ innovation team members, team conflicts and team performance is discussed. The research is based on a survey of 765 college students’ innovation team members, using questionnaire surveys and interviews to collect data, and using correlation analysis, regression analysis and moderating effect models to verify the proposed conceptual model and research hypothesis. The results of the study show that the social heterogeneity of college student innovation team members has no significant impact on team performance;there is a significant positive impact between the information heterogeneity of college student innovation team members and team performance, and strong task conflicts will weaken the impact of information heterogeneity on team performance.Process conflicts strengthen the positive impact of information heterogeneity on team performance;the heterogeneity of values of college students’ innovation team members has a significant negative impact on team performance, and task conflicts will weaken the negative impact of value heterogeneity on team performance. In order to encourage college students to develop innovative projects and improve team performance, this research proposes recommendations based on research hypotheses and conclusions: the government should attach importance to innovation and entrepreneurship education and increase the protection of innovative projects;colleges and universities should actively build innovation platforms and create an innovative and entrepreneurial atmosphere;College students should weigh the relationship between heterogeneity and consistency when forming an innovation team, respect the heterogeneity of team members, pay attention to handling internal conflicts in the team, maintain good team communication, and improve team performance through mutual learning.
