| Family is one of the important places for students to grow,and cultural capital in family is an important aspect of family capital.Compared with other forms of capital,cultural capital is generally ignored.Primary school students are in the golden period of growth,and their learning problems concern every parent.The level of primary school students’ learning engagement affects their learning efficiency to a certain extent,which in turn affects the quality of learning.Therefore,it is of great significance to study the impact of family cultural capital on primary school students’ learning engagement.This study selected Grade 4,5 and 6 students from an urban primary school in S City,Xinjiang Province as the research objects,conducted a quantitative study on family cultural capital and learning engagement,and collected 827 valid questionnaires.Through data analysis,the main conclusions are as follows:(1)The overall family cultural capital of the upper-level primary school students is above the average level,and the influence of parents’ occupation and monthly family income on family cultural capital is significantly different;(2)The overall learning engagement of senior grade students in primary schools is above the average level,and there is significant difference between whether or not they have served as class cadres;(3)Institutionalized capital has a significant impact on the learning engagement of upper grade students in primary schools,among them,the father’s education level has a significant impact on children’s learning engagement,while the mother’s education level has no significant impact on children’s learning engagement,in addition,institutionalized capital has significant influence on cognitive engagement,affective engagement and behavioral engagement;(4)Objectified capital has a significant impact on the learning engagement of upper grade students in primary schools,among them,learning places and books have a significant impact on learning engagement,while the types of learning tools have no significant impact on learning engagement,in addition,objectified capital has significant effects on cognitive engagement,affective engagement and behavioral engagement;(5)Specific capital has a significant impact on the learning engagement of upper grade students in primary schools,among them,family activities,cultural atmosphere,parents’ attention to their children’s studies,and parents’ different educational attitudes all have a significant impact on learning engagement,in addition,specific capital has significant influence on cognitive engagement,affective engagement and behavioral engagement;(6)Family cultural capital has a significant impact on the learning engagement of upper grade primary school students,and also has a significant impact on the three dimensions of cognitive engagement,affective engagement and behavioral engagement.According to the findings of the research,this article proposes to establish learning awareness from the perspective of parents,improve one’s academic level in multiple ways,and strengthen institutionalized capital;create a quiet learning place,provide rich cultural products,and make full use of objective capital;establish a scientific education concept,create a good cultural atmosphere,and guarantee specific capital to improve children’s learning engagement level. |
