The cultivation of primary school students’ scientific literacy is the core mission of science education,which is related to personal growth and the construction of an innovative country.Scientific literacy refers to understanding the necessary scientific and technical knowledge and its impact on society and individuals and knowing the basic scientific methods,mainly including: scientific knowledge,scientific thinking,scientific inquiry,attitude responsibility.Family cultural capital refers to the social resources that the individual inherits from his family in the learning process and helps to improve the scientific literacy of the students.It mainly includes: body capital,object capital,and institutional capital.Although the importance of scientific literacy and family education has been highly concerned by scholars,there has been a lack of quantitative research on how and to what extent family cultural capital affects the scientific literacy of primary school students.Based on the constructivist learning theory and Bourdieu’s cultural capital theory,this study aims to enrich the basic theory of science teaching in primary schools by investigating the scientific literacy of senior high school students and the status of family cultural capital and revealing the relationship between the two.Optimize the theory and practice of cultivating the scientific literacy of elementary school students and put forward new insights.By reviewing the literature and books related to this study,the collected data will be collated,summarized and analyzed to determine the scientific problems to be solved in this study(how is the relationship between primary school students’ scientific literacy and family cultural capital?)The students and their parents of 4 elementary schools in the S district of the city)and the survey method(the questionnaire survey is the main method,and the interview method is the supplementary).Among them,the scientific literacy and family cultural capital surveys were conducted by self-edited questionnaires(student papers)and quoting other people’s published questionnaires(parents’ papers).For selfedited questionnaires,first conduct pre-surveys,conduct exploratory analysis and confirmatory analysis on the pre-survey data,and obtain appropriate formal questionnaires;then adopt cluster random sampling method to select high school students and their parents in class units,The scientific literacy formal questionnaire and the family cultural capital questionnaire will be distributed and recycled in sets.Finally,software such as Spss19.0 and Amos24.0 are used for data processing and statistical analysis of the effective questionnaire,and the effects of various factors of family cultural capital on the scientific literacy of high school students are evaluated by linear regression.The research found that:(1)The arrangement of parents’ leisure time and the companionship of children in physical capital have a significant positive predictive effect on scientific literacy.The more abundant the leisure time arrangement of parents,the higher the child’s scientific literacy;The more companionship,the higher the child’s scientific literacy;(2)Object cultural capital has a significant positive predictive effect on scientific literacy,the higher the object cultural capital,the higher the child’s scientific literacy;(3)the father of institutionalized capital The mother’s highest educational level has a significant positive predictive effect on the child’s scientific literacy.The higher the father’s educational level,the higher the child’s scientific literacy;the higher the mother’s educational level,the higher the child’s scientific literacy.Generally speaking,the scientific literacy of elementary school students in District S of Chongqing is positively related to their family cultural capital.The equation can be expressed as: scientific literacy = 0.105 * leisure time arrangement + 0.160 * accompanying children + 0.292 * objective capital + 0.238 * father’s highest education + 0.112 * Mother’s highest education.Research suggests that in future education,elementary school science teachers should pay special attention to effective communication with parents of students.When providing advice to parents,they should give clear and practical specific plans in conjunction with cultural capital theory,and at the same time,based on students’ scientific literacy and their family culture.The specific situation of capital,optimize the training approach,teach students according to their aptitude.
