| Children with mental retardation have the characteristics of low perceptual speed, low level of thinking, poor motor ability and low level of physical activity, which block their adaptation to normal life.School physical education and compulsory education are the main components of development and have the function of promoting students’ physical and mental health. In 2016,the experimental program of "Sports and Health Care" curriculum in the training school clearly stated the functional goal of the training physical education curriculum to improve the athletic ability and physical quality. But at present, there are many problems such as low professional ability of teachers, single teaching form and insignificant teaching effect in PE teaching in special education schools. In the "13th Five-Year Plan for the Development of Sports",it is emphasized that in order to promote young people to master sports skills and cultivate physical exercise habits,it is necessary to develop sports items suitable for the development of young people, among which the role of Tai Chi is publicized and promoted.Tai Chi has a positive effect on the flexibility of dynamic balance and static balance, and the ability to control walking posture because of its features such as concise content, slow movement and low intensity. Objective: The purpose of this study is to explore the influence of adaptive eight-form tai chi exercise on the physical motor function of students with mental retardation. It provides teaching reference for physical education teachers with mental retardation to carry out adaptive eight-form Tai Chi physical activities, and provides new ideas for special education schools to carry out diversified adaptive physical activities.Research Methods: 20 students with mental retardation aged 10-12 were selected from School A,10 students in the experimental group and 10 students in the control group. On the basis of collecting and analyzing literature and observing students’ visits to teachers, the implementation plan of adaptive eight-form Tai Chi physical activities is determined. The experimental group underwent adaptive eight-form tai chi exercise for 15 weeks, while the control group underwent routine teaching content selected according to the new curriculum standard of "Sports and Health Care" by Mentally handicapped.Five sitting and standing tests were selected to evaluate the lower limb muscle strength of students with intellectual disabilities,SWOC obstacle test was selected to evaluate the physical agility of students with intellectual disabilities, and Berg scale was selected to evaluate the balance ability of students with intellectual disabilities.SPSS20.0 software was used to compare and analyze the experimental data of students with mental retardation between and within groups.Experimental results: In the early stage of the experiment, there was no significant difference in the time spent on SWOC obstacle test and the number of walking steps between the experimental group and the control group;there was no significant difference in the score of Berg scale;and there was no significant difference in the time spent on five sitting and standing tests, which were homogeneous. After 15 weeks of adaptive eight-form Tai Chi physical activities, the experimental group spent significantly less time to pass the SWOC obstacle test and the five sitting and standing test than the control group, and the scores of the Berg scale of the experimental group were significantly higher than the control group. There were significant differences between the experimental group before and after the experiment in the time spent to pass the SWOC obstacle test and the five sitting and standing test and the scores of the Berg scale.Research Conclusions:(1)After 15 weeks of adaptive eight-form Tai Chi training for students with mental retardation aged 10-12,the three indexes of SWOC obstacle walking test,Berg scale and 5 times sitting and standing test of students with mental retardation showed significant improvement. The results indicate that adaptive eight-form Tai Chi can significantly promote the development of lower limb muscle strength, physical agility and balance ability of students with mental retardation,so as to improve the physical motor function of students with mental retardation.(2)After 15 weeks of general physical education teaching, the physical movement function effect of students with mental retardation is not significant. The time of SWOC walking obstacle test decreased by 0.4 seconds compared with that before the intervention.General physical education has a certain effect on the activity ability of students with mental retardation.(3)The following suggestions are put forward for the implementation of adaptive eight-form Tai Chi physical activities among students with intellectual disabilities:According to gender differences, targeted adaptive eight-form Tai Chi physical activities should be carried out.Integrate other training skills to improve the adaptability of direction movement learning of eight-form Tai Chi.The adaptation of the eight tai chi exercise in the implementation of the increase of tai chi scholar’s guidance.Increase the time of adaptive eight-form tai chi practice in family and community. |
