Though our country has published standards for courses on education for the mentally handicapped school,it has not regulated the courses and teaching models.With the teacher's deepening comprehension on the courses and teaching models,the development of teaching for the mentally handicapped shows different trends.The primary education is a vital stage with various teaching models for the education of the mentally handicapped school,among which comprehensive thematic teaching is the representative.Nevertheless,under the influence of different factors,there are many problems in the comprehensive thematic teaching for the mentally handicapped in the primary school which confused the teacher.Those problems are represented by the integrity of themes,the utilization of community resources and the training of teaching teams,which are in urgent need of the theoretic guidance related to relevant courses.As the link between theory and practice,the instructional design model has significant value for the regulation of teaching for the mentally handicapped.However,the research on the instructional design for comprehensive thematic teaching for the mentally handicapped in the primary school is scarce.With this awareness,this research focuses on the discussion of relevant problems in the instructional design for comprehensive thematic teaching for the mentally handicapped in the primary school.Apart from the introductory part,this paper includes the following chapters:Chapter one discusses concepts related to thematic teaching and thus lays a foundation for this research.Meanwhile,it introduces and analyzes relevant documents about thematic teaching and thus lays a foundation for the comprehensive instructional design models for thematic teaching of the mentally handicapped in primary school stage.Chapter two sums up relevant teaching theories and thus lays the theoretic foundation for this paper.Besides,it sorts out instructional design models and suggests a set of instructional design models of comprehensive thematic teaching for the mentally handicapped in primary school stage.As the core of this paper,chapter three elaborates on the steps of instructional designfrom the selection to the evaluation and revision of themes,and incorporates explanations of their application.Chapter four analyzes some cases of instructional design of comprehensive thematic teaching for the mentally handicapped in primary school stage and outlines their problems.It also sorts out the existing problems and suggests some strategies with the aim of providing certain guidance and lessons for the instructional design of comprehensive thematic teaching for the mentally handicapped in primary school.
