The cover of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Deputy of China explicitly projected to upstep employment channels for migrant workers and attach importance to structural employment contradictions. As time goes on,little by little, the optimization and reformation of China’s industrial structure and economic development and the new normal of economic development, the range of employment for migrant workers has also undergone tremendous changes.By 2018,a amount of immigrant workers in our nation had run up to 288.36 million,a 25.5 percent increase over the past decade, according to the 2018 Survey and Examination Report on Immigrant Workers. While the migrant workers entering the city for work add employment vitality to the city, the problems such as the single type of employment and the imbalance of employment structure are also becoming increasingly prominent.Migrant workers employment in recent years the total base under the premise of maintaining stable growth, career types from lower level to higher level gradually, the proportion of migrant workers engaged in service, skill and management occupations is gradually increasing, the industry cluster of industry situation exists from the second industry to service sector change drift,in the industry category overall vocation from engaged in labor-intensive industry is slow to knowledge or skills output industry trends.Based on the data of 2009-2018 Monitoring and Investigation Report on Migrant Workers and CMDS 2014 and CMDS 2018,this study takes migrant workers who are registered in rural areas and enter the non-agricultural industry as the research object, and analyzes the influential factors of this group’s career choice with the help of Mlogit measurement model. On this basis, the similarities and differences of these influencing factors in the role of the new generation and the old generation of migrant workers in career choice are explored, and targeted suggestions are put forward according to the measurement results. The regression results show that age has an inverted U-shaped relationship with the career choice of migrant workers, and the probability of having a partner group is higher.Men are more likely to engage in the managerial and skilled occupations with physical ability, productivity and relatively high social reputation. The migrant workers with higher education level are more likely to choose the occupations with higher professional reputation, higher access threshold, higher working atmosphere and higher income, and the probability of them choosing transactional, skilled and managerial occupations is higher.Health status, work experience and the time of travel also affect their career choice. The higher the family income to income ratio is,the more likely they are to actively participate in the talent market and be more cautious in career choice, but the influence of the number of children on their career choice should not be ignored. In addition, the differences between the two generations of migrant workers in the role of career choice are mainly reflected in the years of education, the time of migration and the number of children. On account of the above conclusions, this essay advances the following suggestions: Strengthen the vocational training of migrant workers and enhance their human capital;Improve the existing employment system to curb the discrimination of the labor market against migrant workers; We should build social network based on karma to improve the social capital reserves of migrant workers;Through the guidance and assistance of the government,we can provide a sound medical security system for migrant workers.
