A Study Of The Influence Of Family Cohesion On Children’s Shyness

Shyness is a common psychological phenomenon in the early stage of children’s socialization.It is manifested as poor communication and self-expression,and it is easy to form a tendency of social withdrawal in children.Children who are shy for a long time have an increased level of social anxiety and show social inhibition behaviors,which will affect their social development.Existing studies have focused on the shy behavior of young children from the perspective of the internal psychological mechanism,kindergarten education,family structure,and parenting style,but only focus on the individual factors that affect the shy behavior of young children.Therefore,this study is based on attachment theory,family dynamics,and social learning theory,and then from the perspective of family cohesion,pays attention to different situations in children’s lives,and explores the impact of family cohesion on children’s shy behavior.A random sample of 112 families with young children was used to investigate family cohesion and children’s shyness by mainly using the Family Cohesion Questionnaire and the Children’s Shyness Questionnaire.The observation method is used as a supplement to pave the way for further analysis of the influence of family cohesion on children’s shy behavior.Through the results of this research,it is found that: First,the overall situation of family cohesion,family cohesion is at the middle and upper level,and there are significant differences in class,way of living,gender,whether it is an only child,and family economic conditions,there are no significant difference.The second is the overall situation of children’s shy behavior.Children’s shy behavior is at the middle and lower level.In unfamiliar and public environments,children are more likely to feel shy,and there are significant differences in children’s shy behavior in gender and class.There is no significant difference in way of living,and family economic situation.The third is that family cohesion and its dimensions have an impact on children’s shy behavior and its dimensions.Among them,family cohesion and its dimensions of "intimacy","respect for each other",and "activity and decision-making" negatively affect children’s shy behavior,and "alienation" dimension positively affects young children’s shy behavior.It can be seen that family cohesion has a certain influence on children’s shy behavior.We should pay attention to this key element in family education,and we can make efforts from the following aspects: families pay attention to children’s social behavior and pay attention to children’s shyness;family pays attention to emotional communication and avoids the tendency of children to be shy;families leave independent space for children to overcome children’s shyness;families increase opportunities for interaction and improve young children’s shy behavior.
