Adolescent deviant behavior,as an important factor affecting the healthy development of adolescents, has been concerned by society and scholars. In recent years,"Sports help youth development" has become a popular slogan in the 21 st century, and sports participation has become an effective carrier for countries to promote youth development. However, whether sports participation can effectively avoid teenagers’ deviant behavior and how it works still need to be deeply explored.Based on social connection theory and social learning theory, this study uses empirical analysis methods to explore the impact of sports participation on Teenagers’ deviant behavior and the impact mechanism of peer groups in both.Using 7397 students’ follow-up data of China Education Panel Survey(CEPS)as data analysis samples,Using Stata 16.0 and Amos 22.0 software, through data cleaning, descriptive statistics,t-test,analysis of variance, correlation analysis, regression analysis and bootstrap mediated effect test, the study found that:Firstly, there are significant differences in adolescent gender bias, registered residence, parental education, family economic status, father’s intoxication, parental relationship, relationship with parents and learning achievement.Second, participation in physical exercise has a significant negative impact on adolescent deviant behavior, that is,the level of adolescent deviant behavior participating in physical exercise is lower.Third, the period of physical exercise has a significant impact on Teenagers’ deviant behavior. When the physical exercise time is kept at 1-60 minutes, participating in physical exercise can significantly reduce teenagers’ deviant behavior; When the time of physical exercise is kept at 61-120 minutes, participating in physical exercise has no significant effect on Teenagers’ deviant behavior; When the duration of physical exercise is maintained at more than 120 minutes, participating in physical exercise will significantly increase teenagers’ deviant behavior.Fourth, participating in physical exercise has a significant impact on adolescent peer groups, that is,participating in physical exercise can help teenagers make more active peers. The positive peer group has a significant negative impact on Teenagers’ deviant behavior, that is,the more positive peers teenagers make, the lower the level of teenagers’ own deviant behavior;Bad peer groups have a significant positive impact on adolescent deviant behavior, that is,the more bad peers adolescents know, the higher adolescent deviant behavior.Fifth, there is a significant correlation among the dimensions of sports participation, peer groups and adolescent deviant behavior.Active peer groups play a partial intermediary role between sports participation and adolescent deviant behavior;Bad peer groups play a partial or complete intermediary role between sports participation and adolescent deviant behavior.Based on the above research results, the following suggestions are put forward: first, give full play to the important role of school and family in avoiding teenagers’ deviant behavior, strengthen the positive education of school, create a good family atmosphere and parent relationship, and combine home and school to create a good growth environment for teenagers;Second, give full play to the carrier role of sports participation in avoiding teenagers’ deviant behavior, and encourage teenagers to actively participate in physical exercise;Third, make sports plans scientifically, plan the duration of sports, and give full play to the positive role of sports participation in avoiding teenagers’ deviant behavior;Fourth, schools and communities should organize collective sports activities according to local conditions and cultivate teenagers’ ability to make friends through teamwork;Fifth, pay attention to the positive peer role in teenagers’ sports participation, carry out peer education regularly, and guide teenagers to establish a correct outlook on making friends.
