| Richard Hyman is an important figure in the field of labor relations research. His theory of labor relations is inspired by Marxist thought, mainly uses Marxist methods, and is full of dialectical thinking. With the rapid development of the economy, the complexity of labor relations is deepening and the complex forms are expanding. Therefore,it is necessary to make deeper and more theoretical research on this. This paper abstracts and summarizes Hyman’s theoretical framework for studying labor relations and trade unions. In the framework of Hyman’s theory of labor relations, this paper explains the significance of research on labor relations theory emphasized by Hyman;analyzes the definition of labor relations research proposed by Hyman that reveals the deeper contradictions of labor relations; The more comprehensive and scientific Marxist methods and ideas contained in Hyman’s research are refined;the new ideas of Hyman’s research affecting the main aspects of labor relations are introduced;some of the challenges and changes that Hyman foresees in the future of labor relations research are summarized. These theoretical results have opened up a broader and brighter future for the labor relations discipline. In the framework of Hyman’s research on trade union organization, this paper abstracts the core elements of Hyman’s research on trade union organization from a macro perspective, and summarizes some new analytical ideas and methods used by Hyman. It is concluded that the trade union structure should be dynamic;trade union policy should focus on abstract people rather than concrete agencies;trade union democracy should not ignore the procedures and forms of informal decision-making.This paper introduces Hyman’s answers to the role of trade unions in interest representation and how trade unions deal with interest aggregation and power redistribution based on the analysis of three questions. This paper summarizes how the trade unions have different strategic orientations under the three-dimensional tension within the trade unions proposed by Hyman.Summarizes Hyman’s insights into the reasons for the decline of union solidarity and where new opportunities for union development lie.The purpose of this paper is to summarize and evaluate Hyman’s research results, summarize the advantages and disadvantages, and hope to provide reference for the development of labor relations in our country and the theoretical guidance of trade union reform. |
