With the popularization and development of the Internet,the Internet has become an indispensable information resource for the secondary vocational students in learning and living.However,many secondary vocational students have long been addicted to the Internet and are unable to extricate themselves,which affects their physical and mental health seriously.Internet addiction will lead to their negative treatment of schoolwork,lack of enthusiasm and initiative for learning,and declining for academic achievements.At the same time,Internet addiction will lead them to have loneliness,depression,inferiority,anxiety and other negative emotions,and even suicidal behavior.This study aims to explore the relationship between Internet addiction and academic achievements and the intermediary role between them.The Chinese Internet Addiction Scale(CIAS-R)and Negative Emotions Scale(DASS-21)conducted questionnaire on 721 students from two secondary vocational schools in Xiangtan,Hunan Province.The main research results are as follows:1.Internet addiction scores and negative emotions scores of secondary vocational students are generally at the normal level.A total of 130 of the 721 secondary vocational students surveyed had Internet addiction,with a detection rate of 18%.2.Internet addiction of secondary vocational students has significant statistical differences in grade,only child,parents’ marriage status and parents’ education.The third grade students in secondary vocational have higher Internet addiction scores than that of the first and second grade students;Only children are more prone to Internet addiction;Students with stable parents are significantly lower than students with unstable marriage;Students with high parental education have an Internet addiction tendency significantly lower than students with low parental education.3.The negative emotions of secondary vocational students are significantly different in gender,grade,parental marriage status and the degree of parents’ education.Girls’ total score of negative emotions and depression dimension is higher than that of boys;The second grade students in secondary vocational have higher negative emotions scores than that of the first and third grade students;Unstable secondary vocational students are more likely to develop negative emotions;Students whose father’s education degree is in junior and above is significantly lower than students whose father’ s education degree is in primary and below.4.The academic achievements of secondary vocational students is significantly different in gender,grade,parental marriage status and the degree of parents’ education.Boys’ professional achievements are significantly higher than that of girls;The basic class achievements of the first and second grade students are higher than that of the third grade students;The professional class achievements of the third grade students are higher than that of the first and second grade students;The basic class achievements of students with stable parents are significantly higher than that of students with unstable marriage;Students whose father’s education degree is in university and above is significantly higher than students whose father’s education degree is in senior and below.5.Internet addiction was significantly positively associated with negative emotions;Internet addiction had a significantly negative correlation with basic class achievements;Basic class achievements had a significantly negative correlation with negative emotions.6.Negative emotions play an intermediary role between the Internet addiction and basic class achievements of secondary vocational students.The above research results show that Internet addiction not only directly affects the achievements of secondary vocational students,but also indirectly affects the achievements of secondary vocational students through negative emotions.Society,parents and schools should guide secondary vocational students to correctly use the Internet,and reduce the Internet addiction rate,but also should also help them improve the negative emotional adjustment ability,cultivate positive emotions,in order to improve the academic achievements of secondary vocational students.
