| School bullying has been curbed to a certain extent since the country made great efforts to crack down on it.However, school bullying has not been completely eradicated, which also exposes the inadequacy of prevention and treatment measures.Through literature review,it is found that the existing prevention and treatment measures do not pay enough attention to the role of bystanders in school bullying. In reality, bystanders can suppress or accelerate bullying through their intervening behaviors. When bystander intervention behavior takes on anti-bullying characteristics, bystander can inhibit the aggravation of school bullying. When bystander intervention takes on the characteristics of pro-bullying,bystander will accelerate the deterioration of school bullying. So how does bystander intervention translate into two completely opposite situations? This is the question that will be explored in this study, namely how bystander intervention behavior is generated.By analyzing the formation process of bystander intervention,it will be helpful to clarify the key stages that influence the transformation of bystander intervention, and thus suggest educators to grasp the key stages to make the positive transformation of bystander intervention and make bystander become an important force in the prevention and treatment of school bullying. Therefore, the analytical framework is constructed by combining the views of symbolic interaction theory and social exchange theory, and the analysis points are extracted from the analytical framework to sort out the actual investigation data.Based on the particularity of campus bullying, the interview method and case analysis method were used to obtain and analyze the actual investigation data.Specifically, the interview method was used to interview 10 primary school students who had witnessed school bullying as well as their parents and head teachers, and the case analysis method was used to analyze the typical cases obtained from the interview. Therefore, according to theoretical analysis and practical investigation, bystander intervention behavior can be divided into four stages: generating motivation, initial formation,re-transformation and final stabilization.Specifically, the motivation of bystander intervention is divided into obtaining reward and avoiding punishment. The initial formation of bystander intervention behavior can be divided into the explanatory stage of judging bullying behavior, the attraction stage of evaluating reward ability and the exchange stage of choosing the exchange object. The re-transformation of bystander intervention behavior can be divided into the competition stage of re-choosing the exchange object and the differentiation stage of power differentiation between the exchange parties. The final stability of bystander intervention behavior is divided into the continuation of pro-bullying behavior and anti-bullying behavior. It can be seen that the formation process of bystander intervention goes through different stages, and there are two extremes of pro-bullying and anti-bullying.Therefore,educators can grasp the key stage of the transformation of bystander intervention behavior and promote the positive transformation of bystander intervention behavior,so that bystander can become the protector of the bullied. Therefore, educators can improve students’ recognition of bullying behavior, enhance students’ ability to resist bullying behavior, stimulate students’ motivation to protect the bullied, cultivate students’ confidence in establishing peer relationship, and give students timely, appropriate and correct feedback. |
