This study took primary pupils who came from Grade 4, 5, 6 of two primary schools in Nanjing as the research subjects. On the basis of revising the Bystander Role in the School Bullying Questionnaire, we applied questionnaire method and IAT to investigate explicit behavior and implicit attitude of bystanders in the school bullying.The research is departed into two parts. The first part adopted revised Bystander Role in the School Bullying Questionnaire to explore the basic characteristics of the bystander roles of 369 primary pupils in the school bullying; the second part selected 30 primary pupils in each of protectors and outsiders of bystanders in the school.bullying according to the results of the first part of the research, and adopted 2(bystander roles: protector or outsider) * 2 (subject words: self or others word) * 2(type words: help others words or non-helpful words) mixed design to investigate whether implicit attitude of the protector and outsider tend to help others.The results were as follows:(1) Bystander Role in the School Bullying Questionnaire has 12 items and three subscales including pro-bully, protector, and outsider. The internal consistency of three subscales was 0.701-0.906, and split-half reliability of three subscales was 0.715-0.894. Confirmatory factor analysis showed that the questionnaire had good construct validity.(2) 81.69% of primary school students had a definable bystander role. The protector had the highest proportion (35.47%). The number of boys was significantly higher than that of girls in the role of pro-bullying, and was significantly less than that of girls in the role of protector; the proportion of the outsiders was about the same for both boys and girls. Moreover, there were no significant grade differences in bystander roles.(3) Implicit attitudes of primary pupils, who play the role of protector and outsider in the school bullying, were inclined to help others and had no significant gender difference.(4) There was no significant difference in implicit attitude of protector and outsider whose explicit behavior was different. 46.55% of the primary school students' implicit attitude and explicit behavior were inconsistent.Conclusions:(1) The school bullying group includes three roles: Pro-bullying, protector and outsider, of which about 1/3 is protector, the highest proportion.(2) Implicit attitude of primary pupils, who play the role of protector and outsider in the school bullying, tended to help others.(3) The explicit behavior and implicit attitude of bystanders in the school bullying were separated.
