In recent years, the trend of school bullying at a younger age has become more and more serious, which has aroused public concern..Bystanders,as the third type of special people in the field of bullying, their words and deeds directly or indirectly affect the trend of bullying.Taking bystanders as the starting point, this study investigated the behavior of bystanders in school bullying incidents, and analyzed the current situation and existing problems of bystanders’ behavior. This study conducted a questionnaire survey among 491 students in grade 4,5 and 6 of X Primary School in Xuzhou City, and conducted an interview survey to analyze the current situation and existing problems of bullying and bystander behavior in senior school, and put forward strategies to promote the positive transformation of bystander behavior. The findings of the study show that bullying and bystander behavior in schools are not encouraging.Bullying in the upper grades of primary schools has a high incidence, and bystanders who witness or know about the bullying are common.Boys are more likely to be involved in bullying. Most of them bully less frequently, while only a small number bully more frequently, and more than one third of the total number of victims. The survey found that the status quo of bystander behavior in the upper grade of primary school is not optimistic. On the whole, the score of positive onlooker behavior was higher than that of negative onlooker behavior and detached behavior, and the proportion of protective behavior was higher. From the perspective of gender, the gender difference of different bystander behaviors is significant. The score of active bystander behavior of male students is higher than that of female students, and the female students’ detached behavior is more than that of male students. From the perspective of grades, there are significant differences in different bystander behaviors. The higher the grade, the more inclined bystander is to stay away from bullying, the less protective behavior, and the phenomenon of indifferent bystander is more common. The study found some problems with bystander behavior that should not be ignored.First, the awareness of bystanders to intervene in bullying in senior primary schools is generally weak, and the awareness of intervention is lacking.Second, bystanders are more inclined to help victims indirectly, and lack the courage and skill support to intervene directly.Third, the students’ indifferent watching behavior increases with the increase of the grade.Fourth, the students’ indifferent watching behavior is universal, and the passive watching behavior reduces their own safety.Fifthly, few students take the initiative to promote bullying, and the vast majority of students have a correct judgment and cognition of bullying.According to survey results and the existing problem, from individuals, families, schools, social four aspects to explore the influencing factors of onlookers behavior, with these factors as the focus, from the perspective of promoting onlookers behavior positive change, tries to put forward some Suggestions for effective intervention and intervention of bullying, rich bullying bystanders related research.
