Objectives:Maintaining proper hydration is essential for athletes to maintain optimal athletic performance and promote physical health.Urine test is a common non-invasive monitoring method that can be used to assess hydration of athletes.Existing studies have confirmed that urine color is one of the effective indicators for subjective evaluation of athletes’ hydration through urine color chart.In recent years,the L*a*b*color model has been widely used in the objective quantitative analysis of color.L*represents the luminance change from black to white,a* represents the chromaticity change from green to red,and b* represents the chromaticity change from blue to yellow.This study intends to explore the feasibility of using urine color L*a*b*parameters to evaluate the hydration of athletes,and develop an intelligent analysis of athletes’ dehydration level and rehydration guidance system based on urine color parameters,which provides theoretical basis and practical guidance for the monitoring and rehydration of athletes’ hydration.Methods:The morning urine of 529 national team athletes was collected through a cross-sectional study,and the random urine of 55 high-level athletes was collected through the fluid rehydration intervention experiment in this study.A total of 803 urine samples were collected,then use a desktop spectrophotometer to measure L*a*b* parameters,use steam osmometer to measure urine osmolality,use digital urine refractometer to measure urine specific gravity,and process test indicators through statistical methods such as correlation analysis,regression analysis,receiver operating characteristic curve,use the literature method,experimental research method,expert interview method and other research methods to carry out systematic research and development.Results:(1)The b* value of urine color has a high correlation with urine specific gravity and urine osmolality(r=0.811,P<0.01;r=0.741,P<0.01).L* value of urine color has a moderate correlation with urine specific gravity and urine osmolality(r=-0.508,P<0.01;r=-0.471,P<0.01).There was no significant correlation between a* value and urine specific gravity and urine osmolality(P>0.05).(2)Regardless of whether the urine specific gravity ≥1.020 or the urine osmolality ≥700 mmol/L is used as the evaluation standard for dehydration,the area under the curve of b* value for diagnosing dehydration is greater than 0.9,and the sensitivity and specificity are high.Area under the curve of the L* value and the a* value for the diagnosis of dehydration was less than 0.5.Regardless of whether urine specific gravity ≤ 1.010 or urine osmolality ≤500 mmol/L was used as the evaluation standard for hyperhydration,area under the curve of b* value for diagnosing hyperhydration was above 0.9,and the specificity and sensitivity were high.Area under the curve of L* value and a*value for diagnosing hyperhydration was less than 0.5.(3)This system makes full use of intelligent sensor technology,wireless network technology,digital image technology,"Internet +" technology by combining multi-disciplinary knowledge such as sports nutrition,sports engineering,information technology,colorimetry and photometry,and based on urine color b* value is determined,the system grading standard is formulated,and the expected function is finally realized by taking urine images and analyzing the urine color L*a*b* parameters.Conclusion:(1)The urine color b* value has high feasibility for evaluating hydration of athletes,the urine color L* value and a* value are less feasible for evaluating hydration of athletes.(2)The intelligent analysis of athletes’ dehydration level and rehydration guidance system has stable performance,friendly operation interface,simple and fast testing,and can relatively objectively and accurately evaluate hydration of athletes,provide personalized rehydration guidance,and provide a new method for solving practical problems in sports training.
