| The Guidelines for Kindergarten Education(for Trial Implementation)stated that the environment was an important educational resource, which should be created and utilized to effectively promote the development of young children.According to the early childhood educator Montessori who thought young children’s understanding of the objective world began with perception and cognition.Among all the perceptions, vision occupied a dominant position. For the young children, color was an “invisible teacher”that teached and guided the healthy development of their minds and bodies through visual perception.Kindergarten is an important place for young children’s physical and mental enlightenment, and the application of spatial color had an irreplaceable role in the aesthetic awareness, character development and behavior guidance of young children. The National Medium and Long Term Education Reform and Development Plan(2010-2020)emphasized that it was necessary to support and plan for kindergartens in rural areas.Through literature and fieldwork,we found that the financial investment in rural kindergartens had been increasing, and the environment construction had been improved, however, there were still misconceptions in the application of color in space, such as inappropriate use of color, poor matching, poor effect, color pollution, and aesthetic ugliness. This paper taken 10 township kindergartens as the research objects in Gansu Province, selecting field research method, questionnaire survey method and interview method.According to systematically observing, analyzing, recording and summarize the photos and videos of different spatial color environments, which could discover the current situation of township kindergartens in spatial color application and its problems. At the same time, based on the questionnaires and interviews,we grasped the cognitive level and attitudes of teachers and managers of township kindergartens in the application of spatial colors. The study found that the problems occurred in the application of spatial color in rural kindergartens mainly include the frequent use of high-purity colors with strong visual impact, the lack of interesting colors in the interior decoration and the cold and rigid atmosphere of the space, the creation of fancy and trivial colors in the environment, which interfered the children’s concentration, and the lack of functional color design in the space, which affects the effect of children’s activities. The main reasons for the above problems were that managers did not know about the relationship between spatial color and children;teachers were short for learning and practicing spatial color application;managers and teachers had prejudices about spatial color application and children’s participation in spatial color application is low.To solve the above problems, the study found that the following strategies could be adopted, that is enhancing the educational concept of environmental color education, and strengthening the learning practice of spatial color application, creating a color environment suitable for spatial function, and integrating color elements under the view of nature education and to understand the spatial color needs of young children. |
